Oscar 2023: Stephanie Hsu And Angela Bassett Make Way For Jamie Lee Curtis

The superhero comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, earned Curtis an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She thanked the f"hundreds of people" who contributed to her success, including her "bae," Michelle Yeoh, and other cast and crew members working on the project.

As she continued, she thanked Christopher Guest, their daughters Annie and Ruby, and her sister Kelly for being part of her "beautiful family." As she clutched the award and expressed her joy at winning, Curtis turned to the sky and thought of her parents, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, who passed away years ago.

Awarded for Best Supporting Actress

Despite this, many people took to social media to express their disappointment with Jamie Lee Curtis' win, adding that Stephanie Hsu and Angela Bassett were "absolutely robbed" of their Oscars 2023. For her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jamie Lee Curtis won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for Bafta and Golden Globe awards.

For Everything Everywhere All at Once, Curtis was among the first winners at the 95th Academy Awards, earning her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar 2023. Several social media users were unhappy with Curtis' triumph following the award. On Twitter, they argued that Stephanie Hsu and Angela Bassett, rather than Curtis, deserved to take home the award.

Comedy Relies Heavily On Characters

Curtis' character, Deirdre Beaubeirdre, was a memorable one, despite having just 17 minutes of screen time. She told IndieWire about her character's importance to the comedy. A Fish Called Wanda, Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda are among Jamie Lee Curtis' notable roles during her nearly four-decade career. 

In addition to the Oscars, the actress has won two Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and was nominated for an Emmy Award and a Grammy Award. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was also granted to her in 1997.
