Maryland Women's Basketball Concludes Weekend Stunt With A Convincing Win Over Pitt

The Breakaway

Diamond Miller crossed the open and sank a layup on the breakaway. Miller said he had four shots and four rebounds in four minutes. Women's basketball No. 14 Maryland handled the ball well against the Panthers after having a high turnover rate against DePaul.

In his three-game final for his Terps at the Fort Myers tip-off, Maryland lost to DePaul in the first game, bounced back with a win over Towson, and his 87–63 victory over Pittsburgh.

Head Brenda Freese said she was grateful to play in a great tournament as she has been top-notch. You can learn about our team by playing three games in 3 days. They came out offensively and shared basketball-like today; guard Abby Myers sank his 10-footer to give Maryland an early lead. Myers was a supernatural force on the court, finishing the game with five rebounds, four assists, and 23 points.

The Standards Of Excellence

Meyers has been with the game for so long that she knows she can have some games that fall short of her standards of excellence and what she can achieve. I believe she tried to do other things in her two games. Killed by a second 3, she knew she had the go-ahead to beat those 3s. Frese's high-transfer group led the Terps in field goals.

Guard/Forward Brine Alexander is 17, Myers is 23, and he is 10. Alexander hit five 3s, giving his team room to slow down offensively. Sellers threw his 3 in the third quarter, and Maryland led his Terp's old ACC rival by 22 points.

"If you defeat the three, you'll have a little more leeway," said Freese. "If you make a mistake or a mistake, you can open the game."

Miller said he played 17 minutes but had his team-high nine rebounds.

A Diamond Player

"She's a diamond. She wants to win and she's a great player who keeps challenging everyone on this team," she said Freese.

Faith Masonius has been a consistent force in the game. Her rushing and four rebounds demonstrated her center-defensive skills.

Briggs provided an offensive lead into the third quarter, finishing the game with eight rebounds, and he fielded his goal ten times.

Freshman Gia Cook showed off his skills with his 10-point high against DePaul, lightning-fast points his guard. Cook scored 4-6 from the free-throw line.

Panther Chaney Lewis scored nine goals and provided five assists against his former team. The Panthers had 18 turnovers, and Maryland had 14.

Finished The Game

Maryland finished the game with 44% shooting, and Pittsburgh was limited to 32% of the field. Freeze wants to gain more experience on the pitch for them. "We are still learning in this group, three games in three days," said Freese. "Today's big lesson shows what we can do."

Her last four minutes were used to orient her first four years. Team building continues to improve as teams play more together.

"There are a lot of new players playing together for the first time, and they are very purposeful and very selfless," he said Freese. "I think they saw when we moved basketball that way. Everybody's going to be able to score and assist in basketball. It's fun to play and it's just talent."

"Only one game at a time to improve our practice," stressed Frese. "Only one game at a time."
