Lawrence stars as Maddie, a down-on-her-luck Uber driver, in the footage released before the film's June 23 release. As a desperate last resort, she answers an ad placed by a couple seeking a date for their shy 19-year-old son before he attends Princeton. Percy is shown attempting to loosen up by drinking and skinny-dipping.

However, his efforts must be improved, as he takes repeated injuries. "This kid is unfuckable," Lawrence's character remarks. "The best part about getting older is not caring about what people think," says Maddie as she and Percy dine out at a classy restaurant. Matthew Broderick, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Scott MacArthur and Ebon Moss Bachrach star in the film.

Lawrence handles film production

It is directed by Gene Stupnitsky, based on a script he co-wrote with John Phillips. Laurel Lawrence produces the film with Justine Ciarrocchi, Naomi Odenkirk, Marc Provissiero, Alex Saks, and Phillips. Laurel Lawrence is the executive producer in addition to Kerry Orent and Phillips.

As a writer, Stupnitsky contributed to the script of the 2011's Cameron Diaz movie Bad Teacher. He directed Good Boys, a comedy starring Jacob Tremblay. Last year, Lawrence starred in the A24 drama Causeway, opposite Brian Tyree Henry, and in Netflix's Best Picture nominee Don't Look Up from 2021.
