The Blockbuster Film, Barbie’s Imax Release Is Just Weeks Away

On September 22, Warner Bros. set to have an Imax run for the movie. It will include some exclusive new post-credit footage as well. It will only be available for one week on Imax screens. 
The plan was announced on Wednesday by the executive of Warner Bros. and president of domestic distribution, along with the president of international distribution. It includes North America and some selected international territories.
The director Gerwig said, “We made ‘Barbie’ for the big screen, so it’s a thrill to be able to bring it to Imax, the biggest screen of all. As a special thanks to ‘Barbie’ fans, we’re excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew’s incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy.”
Cripps and Goldstein pass a joint statement, “If there was one thing missing in this winning ‘Barbie’ strategy, it was being able to put Greta’s singular vision on premium Imax screens over the uber-competitive summer corridor. That ‘Barbie’ continues to draw packed audiences around the world heading into its sixth weekend in release speaks to the quality of the film and the excitement audiences have for the story. We are so pleased to give them a chance to see ‘Barbie,’ whether for the first or fifth time, in such an experiential format as Imax.”

Barbie – A Second Highest-Grossing Movie Of 2023

After just over a month in theaters, the sales of the movie totaled $572 million in North America and $1.3 billion worldwide. And even though Barbie did not take advantage of premium ticket pricing, it is still pacing to take over ‘The Super Mario Bros.’ movie to become the highest grossing movie of 2023. Earlier this year, Super Mario Bros. just ran up to $1.356 billion.
Is this the one last push from Warner Bros. to have Barbie at the top of the year’s chart? Maybe! Or it could be because of the increasing popularity of Imax screens. So, to give an enjoyable experience to the die-heart fans of Barbie, Warner Bros. are running this limited edition campaign.

“For all of us in the exhibition community, it’s been exciting to watch an original film like ‘Barbie’ become an unparalleled critical and commercial success this summer,” CEO of Imax Corporation, Richard Gelfond said in a conference. 
Nonetheless, the Imax release of ‘Barbie’ will be a further boost to its box office performance while providing the audience with an immersive experience. Now Barbie fans will get to see a larger-than-life visual along with enhanced audio and presentation aspects of the film.
