The Summer I Turned Pretty, was the series shown in Prime Video and just wrapped up its second season. The series was narrated about Isabel Belly Conklin, played by Lola Tung, and her love triangle with brothers Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, and Jeremiah Fisher, played by Gavin Casalegno.
In the second season, we can see that Belly's love shifts from Conrad to Jeremiah, Conrad’s younger brother. The season was centered around Belly's indecision. However, her lack of attention for the boys in this season, especially their grief in losing their mother caused by cancer. It was supposed to be supporting for Belly's happy ending with whichever boy she chooses. But as the season continued, it became hard to keep that statement in mind.

Belly Gives Up On Conrad

At the end of last season, Belly made her choice to Conrad Fisher, whom she claimed to have loved her whole life. But, in the new season, they were no longer together, after a dramatic breakup at Belly's prom just a few months before Conrad's mother's death. Belly explained that Conrad suddenly walked away from her and gave up on their relationship. But in fact, Conrad was a 19-year-old kid losing his mother, in his first year of college, without the preparation in these conditions. At the end, Belly was not speaking with the Fisher boys, Conrad and Jeremiah.

Belly Was Selfish

In the next story, Belly calls Jeremiah in the middle of the night, ready to confront him about their lack of communication and then they reunite in their hunt for Conrad and manage to put their conflict behind them. Step by step, Belly's perspective of Jeremiah was shifted and the chemistry between them kept growing. But, when Jeremiah tries to slow things down, it brings up Belly’s brokenness and brings up how she just ended things with his brother. At the moment, we can see that Belly was so selfish and at no point takes any responsibility for her feelings or actions, and does she stop to consider the impact they might have. It was clear that she was actively pursuing Jeremiah. But in her eyes, everything was simply falling into place.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 was still setting up the love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Conrad and Jeremiah were brothers, and Belly could not be ignored. Actually, the Fisher boys, Conrad and Jeremiah, were aware of it, and each has tried to make concessions and take the other into consideration to keep their relationship intact, but Belly, who claims to love them, never does. In the emotional climax of the season, after pulling an all-nighter to help Conrad study for his Biology final, Belly and Jeremiah finally kiss. It could have been beautiful, but Belly was wearing Conrad's sweatshirt. And with that moment, she will become a villain for this season.
