There is one line of dialogue in Netflix's series that Jenna Ortega refuses to say

During an interview Wednesday, Jenna Ortega revealed there was a line in the Netflix series that she would not share. As Wednesday Addams, Ortega plays a role reminiscent of Charles Addams' legendary Addams Family in the hit series.

A line in question appears in the fourth episode of the series, which is based on the school's annual dance. During her outing with Thing, Wednesday eyes a dress in an antique shop window. Her room is searched later in the episode, and she finds out that Thing has stolen the dress.

A grateful look is given to the disembodied hand — but Ortega has a dialogue line during the sequence. In One Netflix Q&A, the actor said that there was originally a line where he was talking about a dress that was to say, "Oh my god, I'm freaking out about the dress, I hate myself."

Those were just a few little things that blew me away. Ortega said she felt that a lot of dialogue could be avoided, so her character sounded more human." Fans praised her decision, but her normally deadpan appearance would not have worked.

Characters are known better by actors

The episode featured one of the show's most talked about scenes, Wednesday performing at the school's prom. A fan wrote on TikTok: "Sometimes you have to give credit to actors who know their characters better than the writers.".

Ortega revealed that she had difficulty sleeping for days before filming the dance scene in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. "I felt like an idiot," she stated. "I don't dance. I don't do anything like this. There is no experience I have in this field. And then I couldn't sleep for two days." Wednesday recently achieved an important viewing milestone by beating the serial killer drama Dahmer.
