It was the first time a former U.S. president had been arraigned on criminal charges related to falsifying business records, with Trump pleading not guilty to 34 counts. As soon as Trump arrived at a New York courthouse, he surrendered to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and was arraigned on charges related to his hush money payment scheme.

He flew home to his Florida club, Mar-a-Lago, shortly before 3 p.m. ET. December is the next court date for Trump. During his arraignment Tuesday, he was charged with 34 felonies for his alleged role in a conspiracy to pay hush money to two women during the 2016 presidential election.

Former adult film star Stormy Daniels and ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal were paid to remain silent about alleged affairs with Trump by Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen. During his appearance on Tuesday, Trump spoke with acting New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan

Trump was seen sitting among his legal team in the courtroom, looking deflated. After the hearing, the former president plans to deliver remarks at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. He also denies wrongdoing related to Cohen's $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep quiet about the alleged affair in 2006.

The President Denied Wrongdoing

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, claims he once had sex with her in 2006. In his bid to reclaim the White House next year, Trump denied wrongdoing in three other criminal investigations — despite committing no crimes in New York.

The former president told supporters at his Florida club that he had only committed one crime: defending the nation fearlessly against those who sought to destroy it. He began his remarks by painting himself as the victim of long-running political schemes to discredit him.

District Attorney For Manhattan Trump Attacked

A campaign-style speech was delivered in which Trump attacked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other major officials investigating his conduct: Jack Smith of the Justice Department, Fani Willis of Fulton County, and Letitia James of the New York Attorney General's office.

Ex-president Biden drilled into familiar foes Hillary Clinton and Hunter, the son of former President Joe Biden. In addition, he repeated claims that the U.S. economy is on the brink of collapse and repeated a conspiracy theory that widespread fraud led to the loss of his 2020 election to Biden. Some legal experts outside Trump's circle have expressed concerns about whether Bragg can prove his case.
