Playaz Circle was formed in 1997 by Epps and childhood friend Earl Conyers under the name Tity Boi as a hip-hop duo. Known as Dolla Boy, Conyers assisted 2 Chainz in releasing his first independent album, "United We Stand, United We Fall," in 2002. In addition to gaining notoriety for their tracks on the radio, Atlanta rapper Ludacris was attracted to the album by the rapper's song. 

As he hadn't yet become famous, Ludacris lived in the same apartment complex and worked as a DJ.
