American fantasy drama TV show Game of Thrones was made by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is based on George R. R. Martin's series of fantasy books called A Song of Ice and Fire, the first of which is called A Game of Thrones. The show was filmed in many different countries, including the UK, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, and Spain. It started on HBO in the US on April 17, 2011, and ended on May 19, 2019, after eight seasons and 73 episodes.

Sophie Turner adopted Lady of Direwolf, In real life

Zunni, who played Lady for two episodes, is still very much a part of the Game of Thrones family even though her character didn't last very long on the show (Ned Stark was forced to execute the poor pup in place of Nymeria at Cersei's command back in season one), but Lady didn't last long on the show either. In 2013, Sophie Turner shared with The Coventry Telegraph that her family had taken a liking to Zunni, one of the characters on the show. "When I was a kid, I had this strong desire to have a dog, but my parents were never interested in getting one. On set, we all developed a soft spot for Lady, the direwolf that plays my character. We were aware that Lady had passed away, and they were looking to find her a new home. My mother was successful in convincing them to allow us to adopt her.

Jon Snow might have resembled Ramsay Bolton in appearance

Iwan Rheon revealed in an interview in 2016 that he and Kit Harington were in competition for the role of the bastard son of Ned Stark. "Things may have turned out very differently. I'd be long gone by now," Iwan explained. "I believe that they made the right choice; if I had portrayed Jon Snow, it would have been a totally different version of the character."

Singer Lily Allen is the older sibling of Alfie Allen

In an Ask Me Anything in 2014, Lily stated that she had been asked about making a cameo appearance on Game of Thrones to play Theon's sister Yara. That remark was struck down by Alfie, who subsequently stated to Vulture that "[I]t's not true... and that will be the last thing that I comment on regarding that." One month later, Lily shared her final view on the subject with a radio station in Australia, saying, "I'm not even permitted to discuss the letters of what the show starts with. Alfie put me under stern orders." A fun fact is that Lily published a song in 2007 on the fact that her brother was unemployed. It goes by the name "Alfie." A puppet takes on the role of Alfie in the accompanying music video.

The appearance of Dany's dragons on the show was influenced by the behaviour of geese and cats

Effects supervisor Sven Martin stated in an interview with Wired in 2013 that the show looked at "huge goose animals" and examined how the animals flapped their wings when they were not flying in order to replicate this movement. In addition to this, they observed the flight patterns of bats and advised Emilia Clarke to touch the dragon stand-in "a little bit like a cat."

The butt in the cave wasn't actually Kit Harington's

When Jon Snow eventually lost his V-card in the episode "Kissed by Fire," he and Ygritte shared, without a doubt, one of the all-time sexiest cave sex moments with each other (season three, episode five). There was a fantastic butt moment, but as Kit disclosed in GQ about a year after the show aired, "It wasn't my ass." Due to "young male idiocy, really," he fractured his ankle six weeks before the filming, and a crew member with long black curls filled in as Kit's butt doubled during that time.

Dany's horse heart in season 1 was composed of jam

Emilia Clarke claims that the jam mixture was so terrible that she didn't really have to put much effort into acting. She commented to The Mirror that the dish had the flavour of bleach mixed with uncooked pasta. During the course of filming that sequence, I ate somewhere in the neighbourhood of 28 hearts. To my great relief, they provided me with a vomit bucket due to the fact that I frequently threw up in it.

To be more accurate, Yara Greyjoy's first name in A Song of Ice and Fire is

David Benioff, the show's producer, gave an explanation as to why the character Yara will continue to be used even after the introduction of Theon's sister during the second season. In 2011, he stated in an interview with Access Hollywood that the team was "a little bit apprehensive about the Osha/Asha sounding too close together." He was referring to Osha, the wildling.

Jack Gleeson, who played Joffrey Baratheon, was a charming young child in BATMAN BRGINS

If you're a fan of Jack Gleeson, you pretty much only have this clip and his appearance on Game of Thrones to look at for his reel. Jack made the announcement that he was leaving the acting business in 2014 when he was only 21 years old. According to what he said to Entertainment Weekly, "I just stopped loving it as much as I used to." It was always something that I did for recreation with my friends or during the summer for some fun, but now there's the possibility that I could do it for a living, whereas up until now, it was always something that I did just for recreation. I enjoyed it. When you depend on anything for your livelihood, your connection with that object inevitably shifts. It's not that I dislike doing it; rather, it's just not something I see myself doing in the future.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss know the finale if George R. R. Martin is "struck by a truck"

GRRM gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly in 2011 in which he stated, "I know the ending in broad strokes. I am not aware of every single turn and twist that will lead me to my destination, nor do I know how the story will conclude for any of the tertiary characters. But the conclusion and the primary characters, definitely. In an interview with Variety in 2015, David Benioff stated, "We know what the ending is, and we're barreling toward it." Benioff also stated that there are no plans to extend the story "just because we're all having a good time doing it and people are making money off of it."

Off-screen, Maester Aemon was blind

Peter Vaughan, who played the role of the blind elder Maester Aemon of the Night's Watch, had only half vision when he was cast in the role. Vaughan passed away in December 2016, at the age of 93, less than two years after the death of his character on the show, which also occurred due to old age. The information that "he died quietly with his family around him" was confirmed by his agency to The Telegraph.

The OG pilot with GRRM's cameo never broadcast

Despite the fact that Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Station Agent) was the director of the show's original pilot, the episode was terrible. It was so bad that Weiss and Benioff's friends, who watched the episode as guinea pigs, had no idea that Jaime and Cersei were related to each other after the first hour had passed. In 2012, GRRM revealed to Empire that he had appeared in a cameo as a nobleman from Pentoshi and one of the attendees at Dany and Khal Drogo's wedding. "However, later on we decided to cast someone else in the role of Dany, and as a result, the entire wedding sequence in Morocco was scrapped, and my fantastic cameo was abandoned on the cutting room floor." It's true that other actresses portrayed the roles of Catelyn Stark and Daenerys Targaryen in the original pilot episode. Jennifer Ehle and Tamzin Merchant took on those roles at the time. It's quite rude considering the fact that Michelle Fairley and Emilia Clarke are the only people who could possibly play those parts.

Tyrion is the most-appearing character

65 episodes have been broadcast as of the airing of episode five of season seven, titled "Eastwatch." Peter Dinklage's portrayal of Tyrion Lannister has appeared in 59 of those episodes, followed by Lena Headey's portrayal of Cersei in 57 episodes and Kit Harington's portrayal of Jon Snow in 56 episodes (55).

Two of Dean-Charles Chapman's characters in the show were played by him

Do you know what other words rhyme with Tommen? Martyn. It's true that the rhyme is a bit forced, but the fact that Tommen Baratheon and Martyn Lannister are based on the actor Dean-Charles Chapman makes for a very significant connection between the two characters. After playing Martyn, who was taken hostage by the Tullys and later killed off along with his brother Willem in season three, Dean-Charles took on the more royal role at the beginning of season four. Martyn was held captive by the Tullys. Willem was also killed off. Oh, Game of Thrones, you just adore using the same actors again and over, don't you?

One of the Game of Thrones dragon eggs is in George R. R. Martin's possession

When GRRM finally tied the knot with his longtime sweetheart Parris McBride in 2011, designer Gemma Jackson presented the egg prop to him as a wedding gift. In an interview that she gave to Harper's Bazaar in 2015, Emilia Clarke claimed that Jay-Z had purchased one of the original eggs as a present for Beyoncé. Where exactly is the third, then? Fess up, Littlefinger. You are aware; I am aware.

Lyanna Mormont's viral face from "Battle of the Bastards" (season 6, episode 9) was shot 60 times

According to the director Miguel Sapochnik, actress Bella Ramsey "had no idea when a camera was on her or another cast member" and "stayed in character and in the scene throughout." This information was provided to The Wrap. What a true winner.

Ramsay Bolton's death was supposed to be creepier

In an interview with Variety in 2016, the visual effects supervisor for Imagine Engine, Mat Krentz, stated that the scene was shot in multiple takes. After that, they did a pass of Ramsay on the green screen, and finally, they did a pass of the dog on the green screen. In addition, we had a background plate, which we pieced together, he explained. Additionally, a computer-generated jaw was created and animated in order to simulate the act of ripping flesh; however, this portion of the show was cut, and instead, a two-dimensional composite was used.

It seems like Jon Snow is wearing an Ikea rug

Michele Claption, the costume designer for Game of Thrones, disclosed in a talk that she gave in 2016 at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles that the capes worn by the men of the Night's Watch are actually carpets purchased from IKEA. It wasn't until 2017, just after the debut of season seven, that the news began to spread widely. This inspired Ikea to release its own amusing instructions on how to create your own Jon Snow-approved cloak for your own adventures beyond the wall.

A real-life bakery is owned by the actor who plays Hot Pie

Ben Hawkey, whose much-loved character Hot Pie made a brief appearance on the show during the seventh season, recently created a bakery with a Game of Thrones motif called You Know Nothing John Dough. Because there isn't a physical bakery, you can't reenact any of the pie-eating scenes that take place opposite Hot Pie. However, Ben has collaborated with the delivery service Deliveroo, which is based in London, to sell Direwolf loaves, which are made from whole wheat cornbread and orange zest, as well as other tasty treats.
