On June 8, 1978, Maria Menounos was born to Greek immigrants Costas and Litsa Menounos in the Boston neighborhood of Medford, Massachusetts. Before birth, her parents had immigrated to the country and were employed as nightclub janitors in Boston. She was a Medford High School student.

Menounos made the independent cinema fairy tale "Land of Merry Misfits" when he was 17. She started competing in beauty pageants in 1995, and in 2006, she has crowned Miss Massachusetts Teen USA.

Menounos later enrolled at Emerson College, where she took part in the now-award-winning Emerson Independent Video group. She earned her Emerson degree in 2000. She has been a reporter for Channel One News while still in school.

Menounos' ten-minute pieces featured several special assignments, including her trip to El Salvador to cover the earthquakes, her questioning of NATO aircrew personnel on board a plane during Operation Eagle Assist, and her discussion with President George W. Bush.

Silver screen career

Menounos was hired by Entertainment Tonight in 2002 to work as a correspondent. Until she left the show in 2005 to concentrate on her acting career, she covered movies, music, and fashion. However, she signed on with the competing show "Access Hollywood" only a few months later.

She was featured on the program "Punk'd" in 2003 and was one of several famous people subjected to the uncomfortable "Red Carpet Interviews." She appeared on UPN's "One on One" in 2004. The following year, she co-starred with Chris Evans in the movie "Fantastic Four."

She started working as a spokeswoman for Pantene hair care products during this period. Together with Greek artist Sakis Rouvas, Menounos served as a presenter for the Athens-hosted Eurovision Song Contest in 2006.

She then co-hosted a few episodes of the "Today" show between 2006 to 2007. Menounos established and ran the online entertainment network AfterBuzz TV, for which she was designated the CES 2014 Entertainment Matters Ambassador.

The television series "Without a Trace," "One Tree Hill," and "Scrubs" all featured Menounos in recurring roles. In 2008, she started hosting "Hollywood Green" on the Planet Green network, and she also acted in the film "Tropic Thunder."

She was the first journalist to speak with every member of the Obama family at once in the same year. From 2009 through 2012, Menounos hosted reunion episodes of MTV's "The Real World" and "The Challenge." It was revealed in August 2011 that she would be joining "Extra" as Mario Lopez's co-host.

The tumor changed her life

After three years as a host, Menounos quit "Extra" and secured a multi-year deal with E! Entertainment to host and develop several shows.

The Hollywood Reporter stated in July 2015 that she would succeed Giuliana Rancic as the co-anchor of E! News. Due to an ongoing medical struggle with a brain tumor, she resigned in July 2017.

Wrestling career

She co-hosted "WWE Raw" with Nancy O'Dell for the first time in October 2009. She competed that evening in a six-diva tag team bout alongside Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly. The game's highlight was Menounos slapping the much taller Beth Phoenix, which helped their team win.

She returned to the ring in December 2011 at the WWE Tribute to the Troops, where she defeated the Bella Twins with the help of Alicia Fox, Eve Torres, and Kelly Kelly. She again teamed up with Kelly Kelly for a tag team bout at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Menounos presented on the red carpet of the WWE Hall of Fame pre-show for six consecutive years, from 2014 to 2019.

She also participated as a guest backstage interviewer for multiple Wrestlemanias. Maria became the announcer in the guest ring for the first-ever women's Royal Rumble contest in January 2018.

They were wed on New Year's Eve 2017 and then remarried in Greece in October 2018. She has been battling meningioma, a benign brain tumor, since June 2017.
