Early Life
Mulaney was born in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Ellen, was a professor at Northern University Pritzker School of Law, where his father, Charles, was an attorney and a partner at Skadden Arps. He is the third of five children.
He has an elder sister, an elder brother, a younger sister and a younger brother. He died at birth. At the age of five, Mulaney wanted to go into show business.
At the age of seven, he was a member of 'The Rugrats', a Chicago-based Children's sketch group. He attended his junior high school at St. Clement School. At the age of fourteen, in a production of Our Town, he played the role of Wally Webb. In 2000, he attended St. Ignatius College Prep and graduated, majoring in English and minoring in theology.
Career
In 2004, after graduating from Georgetown, Mulaney moved to New York City to pursue a career in comedy. He was hired as an office assistant at Comedy Central. For the next four years, he continued writing and performing.
In 2008, he gained recognition after appearing in several major late-night television shows.
He had a chance to perform on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' and also offered an audition for 'Saturday night Live'.
