Donald James Yarmie, stage name Don Adams, is an American actor, comedian, and television director who, during his 50-year television career, is best known for his role as Maxwell in the Super His Agent 86. And won three Emmy Awards. He gains most of his income from his roles in TV shows and movies.

As a young man, Don Adams was in the United States Marine Corps. He later worked odd jobs and made his TV debut as a stand-up comedian on his friend's talent show. This was the start of his career in vaudeville television, and he continued in the role for several years, becoming a regular on many shows.

At the same time, he started dubbing comics. His comical talents caught the attention, and he landed the lead role in Get Smart. Audiences loved his character's antics and gags, and he won three Emmy Awards. However, he was so smitten with the role that he struggled to get other roles. So he switched to directing commercials and working as a voice actor and was successful. He has also done stage comedies and radio commercials. He reprised his role in Get Smart many times before his death from his lymphoma.

Donald Adams was born Donald James Yarmie on April 13, 1923, in Manhattan, New York, USA, to William Yarmie and Consuelo. He also had a brother Richard, who is also an actor and a sister Gloria (a writer). 

He wanted to be an engineer, but World War II had already begun, so he had to enlist in the United States Marine Corps instead.

Don Adams has been married three times. The first is Adelaide Effantis (Adelaide Adams), the second is Dorothy Bracken, and the third is Judy Luciano.

Carolyn, Christine, Kathy, Cecily, Stacey, Sean and Beige were his seven children, each living in separate marriages.

His daughter Cecily died of lung cancer a year before he died, and his son Sean died of a brain tumour a year later.

In his free time, he enjoyed gambling, painting and poetry.

Died in front of his family on September 25, 2005, from a lung infection while battling lymphoma and recovering from a broken hip at his Sinai Medical Center in Cedars, Los Angeles, California.

He is buried next to a Hollywood legend in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
