Martin Scorsese grew up in one of the shabby little neighborhoods of New York in the 1940s and that is portrayed in his direction of movies. His gangster movies reflect what any other director might not be able to because Martin has first-hand experience of the scenario. His direction of movies includes biopics, comedies, and documentaries but his crime movies surpass all. He is one of the best-known gangster movie directors of all time. Some of his amazing pieces are:

Goodfellas:

Goodfellas fell into strict competition with The Godfather for being the best crime mob movie to be made in the 1970s. Goodfellas is realistically based on what a small gangster faces and experiences and is in a rat race to become one of the biggest names of the underworld. The movie, with dark humor and extreme violence, shows how the protagonist connects with the mafias to fulfill his desire.

The Casino is a 3-hour-long gangster movie set in the 70s and the 80s, based on the rise and fall of a grand mafia empire. The movie is set in Los Vegas, hence the name of the movie. For this movie, Martin again teamed up with his Goodfellas team, DeNiro and Pesci. In this movie, Scorsese looks at the bigger picture and expands organized crime to a wider scale, by involving the FBI.

The Irishman was also based on the true life story of a hitman, as is characteristic of Scorsese&rsquo's movies. This movie is different from Scorsese’s other gangster movies because of its slow pace and a greater show of some human emotions. For this movie, Scorsese added another legend, al Pacino along with his classical team of DeNiro and Pesci. The Irishman has a huge cast and uncovers the glamorous mafia life to show the sad, regretful life they lead. The protagonist’s life is shown from his World War II days to his sad and lonely days, therefore, making the movie an amazing show of gangster emotions.

Mean Streets

Mean Streets is one of those movies where Scorsese depicted the life of people in the ‘mean streets’ where he grew up, and hence this movie remains an amazing cinematic brilliance. The movie is more of a crime movie than a gangster, based on a small criminal who tries to protect his ager-stricken friend from his debtors. The movie’s depiction of mean streets remains a cinematic masterpiece.
