The list of the World's Top 10 Most Expensive Fruits
Updated on September 08, 2022 18:05 PM by Laura Mendes
Fruits are those oddly shaped, delicious, and colourful foods that we can consume without feeling bad like we might after consuming an entire bar of chocolate. No judgement from me. They're nutritious and full of vitamins; we may eat them raw, in desserts, or even cooked to give our food its distinctive flavour.
In the past, the only fruits we could eat were locally grown, but today we can get nearly anything from anywhere. Just the prices we pay for them vary. They can occasionally cost as little as a few cents or as much as a piece of meat. When we wish for those exotic fruits that grow in far-off places, that is what happens.
When we wish for those exotic fruits that grow in far-off places, that is what happens. They must find a way to get them to us. And to keep them hydrated while travelling.
But sometimes, some people go farther out and make customised varieties of exotic fruits. Nowhere in nature will you find them growing like that, and if you want to taste them, you will undoubtedly have to pay much more. The amount? What if we told you that some of those costs could be used to purchase the perfect vehicle?

Yubari King Melon – $30,000/pair
The Yubari King Melon is a cross between two different melons grown in the same Hokkaido Island greenhouses mentioned above.
The melons are perfectly rounded, have a smooth rind, and have some of the stem left on top for aesthetic purposes. They are used as gifts at Chugen, the Ghost Festival, a traditional Buddhist and Taoist festival.
They are exceedingly soft and tasty. The average cost of melon is about $12,000, but in 2008, two of them sold for a whopping $30,000, making them the priciest fruits in the world.Add Block
Densuke Watermelon – $6,100
The black Densuke watermelon, which may weigh up to 11 kilos and has neither spots nor stripes, is unusual on the fruit market. Its flavour is slightly sweeter than other watermelons, and only 10,000 are produced annually, making them extremely rare.
One of these sweet black melons typically costs around $250, but in 2008 the record price for one was $6,100. Should we bring up the fact that this occurred in Japan? You must have guessed it by now, right? The watermelons' main cause is their scarcity because they can only be cultivated on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

Ruby Roman Grapes – $8,400
Once more, Japan appears on this bizarre list with Ruby Roman Grapes. They are the most costly grapes you will ever purchase. They have been grown in the Ishikawa Prefecture since 2008, and the general population chose their name.
Verifying that each grape has over 20g and an 18% sugar content is part of the selection process. The grape cluster is chosen for the premium class if it weighs more than 700g and is larger than 30g.
A cluster of 26 superior-class grapes was sold in 2015 for an unbelievable $8,400 since they are so uncommon.Add Block
Taiyo no Tamago Mangoes – $3,000
They are another fruit picked with precision and go by the "egg of the sun." To be chosen, Taiyo no Tamago Mangoes must weigh more than 350 grammes each and have high sugar content.
Following the initial harvest, the fruits are auctioned off for quite a bit of money each year. The previous record was $3,000. Value it? We heard these taste a whole lot better than the conventional ones.

Pineapples from the Lost Gardens of Heligan – $1,500
We know neither pineapples nor particularly beautiful weather may be found in England. But just partially. It is possible to produce pineapples in England thanks to the favourable climate. That is, with a little assistance from people.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall, UK, is the last spot in Europe where pineapples grow. Victorian gardeners utilised the type of pineapple pit in the 18th century. Large amounts of fresh dung and hay soaked in urine are used in this approach, along with a lot of strenuous manual labour, to heat the pit where the pineapples are planted.
These pineapples are normally not sold despite being worth more than $1,500 each. Despite this, one was eventually put up for auction, and the winning bidder paid about $16,000. Wow, that's jaw-dropping.
Square Watermelon – $800
Would you consume a square meal? I've moved on from the topic of chocolate. Something massive, weighty, and cube-shaped. You would, we bet. At least the square Watermelon. The concept reappeared in Japan, but as of 2014, they are also available worldwide.
There is nothing remarkable about these watermelons other than that they were grown in a box to give them the form you see in the picture. The taste is identical to that of regular watermelons.
Okay, perhaps the cost. This is especially noteworthy, considering a single 13-pound watermelon costs $800. Do you want to consume a square watermelon, then? I had assumed as much, but I'm not so sure now. However, you are free to retain it as decoration.

Dekopon Citrus – $80/pack of six
Dekopon Citrus is an orange and mandarin hybrid that is delicious and seedless. An orange mandarin. They were originally grown in 1972, and because of how sweet they are, many people think they are the best oranges in the world.
And other than Japan, where could they be sold? These are not fruits you can buy with the leftover change from your last grocery run because they come in a pack of six and cost a good $80. Make sure your wallet is prepared and completely packed.

Sekai Ichi Apples – $12
I know it’s hard to read, but the name means “number one in the world”. Is anyone for modesty? The first time these apples were cultivated was in Japan in 1974. Their light pink or red hue and their juiciness and sweetness are usual.
They are enormous in size and weight, which is abnormal. They weigh close to two pounds and have a circumference of 15 inches. Additionally, they are cleaned in honey before being sold. There is also the cost. One single, gigantic apple would cost you $21.
Buddha Shaped Pears – $9
Yes, it is what you read. Pear-shaped like a Buddha. Included are a smile, a meditation pose, and folded arms. The concept of growing these pears in the form of the Buddha Statue originated with a Chinese farmer named Xianzhang Hao, who runs a farm in the province of Hebei.
The pears are cultivated in moulds that form them like small Buddhas during the process of growing.
The Fruit Mould Company in China, which also offers many other alternatives for unusual fruit shapes like heart-shaped watermelons or gnome-shaped apples, provided the moulds. The pears were discussing a cost of $9 each. They also enable you to meditate for longer. I'm kidding.
