Cancun authorities are investigating the discovery of four dead people near a beachside hotel. On Boulevard Kukulcán in the municipality of Benito Juárez, the bodies were found "next to a hotel," according to a statement shared Monday by the Quintana Roo Attorney General's office.

As the resort responded to a Facebook comment, a representative said that those affected were neither guests nor employees. We continue operating as usual within our facilities, and neither of our guests nor collaborators is in danger in our facilities due to the incident reported about access to the beach adjacent to the hotel.

We are committed to the safety of our guests and collaborators, and local authorities will conduct the investigation. Officials from Quintana Roo's Department of Security said in a social media post the victims were drug dealers and ruled out the possibility that they were hotel workers or tourists.

According to the Quintana Roo Attorney General's office, two suspects have been detained for "possibly participating in the event," and an investigation is ongoing. A statement from the authorities stated that they are investigating this crime and working to discover who else may have participated.

Guards Guard Tourist Destinations

A travel advisory issued by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico in March warned international travelers to exercise increased caution after dark in downtown areas of popular spring break destinations such as Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, and Tulum.

General Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, Mexican Secretary of National Defense, deployed 8,524 National Guard members to guard tourist destinations between April 1 and April 16, according to Mazatlán Weekly. In addition to guards deployed to tourist destinations, 3,800 guards serve on highways, according to the publication.
