Iggy Azalea's letter is one among the 76 letters of recommendation sent to Tory Lanez. Lanez, 31 who’s real name is Daystar Peterson was convicted last year for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Judge Herriford who was in charge of the case reportedly received 76 letters, and Iggy Azalea's letter was one among them. The support letter did not sit well with Megan Thee Stallion fans.

The singer was buzzed with backlash on social media after it was disclosed she had given out a letter asking for a “Transformational sentence”

Azalea responded to the backlash on social media saying that she did not intend to “publicly comment.”

The “Fancy” singer alluded that she had not communicated with Tory for months and that she wished him well.

She explained that, “I don’t support anyone. The whole thing is full of oddities. My letter never mentioned anything in regard to what happened that night.”

The singer further continued to insist that, “I am not in support of throwing away ANY one's life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period.”

She also mentioned that, “ I was asked to write about my genuine experience and the type of punishment I think he deserves: I did. It’s not really that interesting but I understand why it’s being sensationalized. See ya next week to discuss pizza toppings I suppose. Lol.”

She later on reiterated in her post saying, 'I really hate that this is today's discourse online because it's not really an explosive revelation.'

She maintained that, 'Yes: he should be held accountable.” then she added,' the charges don't warrant 5plus in prison.'

Firm Sentence

Megan Thee Stallion's written statement was read in court during the hearing, “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,” she said. “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”

She requested that her absenteeism from the court proceeding during which Tony was testifying not be interpreted as an indication of her lack of interest in the case.  She asked the judge to sentence him firmly.

Sonstar Peterson, Lanez's father, made a heartfelt speech about his kid losing his mother at age 11. “I don’t think anybody ever gets over that. But his music became his outlet.”

Lanez was convicted of first degree assault, discharge of a firearm with carelessness, and having a concealed and unregistered firearm in the vehicle. The sentence hearing began on August 7, and he is to serve a sentence of 10 years without parole.

Conclusion

Azalea found herself in some hot soup after sending a letter of support to Lanez. Though in her explanation she says that she did not wish for the letter to be “ Publicly commented,” she still holds that she supports prison reform. Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years without parole.
