James Gunn: Henry Cavill has been replaced as Superman Director and Producer Peter Safran admit the news

To the dismay of DC fans worldwide, British actor Henry Cavill revealed on social media on December 15 that he would not be playing Superman once more.

Following a chat with producer Peter Safran and filmmaker James Gunn, the 39-year-old actor divulged the information.

According to reports, Cavill's Superman—a well-known superhero in the DC universe—will play a young reporter in the upcoming Superman movie. "There are times when the guard is changed. I honour that. James and Peter have an universe to explore," that statement reads

"I won't be returning as Superman, after all. Since the studio requested that I give this information back in October before they hired me, it's not the easiest to do, but that's life "Cavil stated.

The actor revealed his return as the DC superhero in an Instagram post on October 24. The film Black Adam, which featured Cavill's Superman comeback in a post-credit sequence, was released after the publication of the video. In the scenario, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam and Henry Cavill's Superman square off.

The actor had stated in the video, "I wanted to make it official that I am returning as Superman and the image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam is simply a very little taste of things to come”

Cavill revealed his decision to abandon his role as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix fantasy drama series The Witcher six days after making the announcement.

“Unfortunately, I will be putting my medallion and my swords away for Season 4 after a journey as Geralt of Rivia packed with adventures and monsters. The magnificent Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be assuming the mantle of the White Wolf in my place," the actor stated in the tweet, announcing that Hemsworth, who played the White Wolf in The Hunger Games, would fill Cavill's shoes.
