Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams is from USC

On Saturday night, the 20-year-old sophomore quarterback outlasted TCU's Max Duggan, Georgia's Stetson Bennett, and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud to win college football's top award.

"He's the Heisman. Calleb Williams is who he is "Tweets were posted by the USC football official account.

Williams received the majority of the first-place votes from the voting panel, which included 57 former Heisman winners in addition to 870 media representatives from across the nation. Since Reggie Bush brought home the trophy in 2005, Williams is the only USC athlete to do so.

After entering college as the top recruit in the nation, the Trojans' leader is most likely going to the NFL in 2024 as its top choice.

But for the native of Washington, D.C., the path to USC was not a straight one.

After a breakout freshman season, Williams last year made the switch from Oklahoma to USC, following in the footsteps of his former coach Lincoln Riley, who also left the Sooners for the Trojans.

Williams told ESPN at the time, "I wanted to go somewhere I thought would give me the best development both on and off the field. "Knowing some of the guys on the squad and getting to know Coach Riley and his offence definitely played a part in my choices," the candidate said.

Williams has passed for 4,075 yards this year in an 11-1 season, with 37 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

USC's hopes of competing in the College Football Championship were shelved for the year after falling to Utah in the Pac-12 championship last weekend.

Unlike the Heisman, which will always remain the athlete's fantasy award.
