Even after three years of Harry Styles being the first solo male cover of Vogue, Billy potter still seems to be in rage and dislike for the use of a straight white man in portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community.

In 2020 Harry Styles became the first solo male cover star of Vogue, and fashion icon Billy Porter is still disappointed at Vogue stating that harry styles is “white” and “straight” and the star wearing a floor-length gown does not efficiently represents the LGBTQ community and all that it stands for.

According to Billy potter in an interview with Telegraph, Harry’s whiteness is why he was on the cover of Vogue. In his exact words “That’s why he’s on the cover. Non-binary blah blah blah blah. No. It doesn’t feel good to me. You’re using my community—or your people are using my community—to elevate you. You haven’t had to sacrifice anything,”

Billy Porter is an American singer and actor and fashion icon who has demonstrated gender fluidity in his dressing and approach to life. He is 53-year-old. Porter was born on September 21, 1969.

Following his interview with The Telegraph, Porter detailed his perspective, asserting that Styles was chosen for the inaugural male cover due to his "white and straight" identity.

He also went further to slam vogue’s editor in chief Anna wintour. In the interview he revealed that prior to the cover's release, Anna Wintour, had reached out to him and seeked his advice in a conversation with him, seeking guidance on the direction Vogue should take. Yet went ahead to do what ever she pleased

This is however not the first time Porter has slammed vogue. He had previously shared his critique of Styles' Vogue cover, explaining to Harry styles that his stance wasn’t a personal attack but his own point of view of the clear mistake made by Vogue. He also stated that he found it sad that Styles was using the Non Binary community to suit his own fame and elevation which he hinted was a disrespect to the LGTBQ+ community who are making meaningful sacrifices

Porter repeated his interaction with Anna Wintour before the cover's publication, indicating that she had asked about how to improve Vogue's approach. Remembering this conversation, Porter explained that he felt caught off guard and regretted not expressing his thoughts more assertively: "That comment caught me by surprise, and I missed the opportunity to convey what I truly should have said."

Wintour had inquired about ways to enhance support for LGBTQ+ style pioneers.

"That bitch said to me at the end, 'How can we do better?' And I was so taken off guard that I didn't say what I should have said,"

Porter added that his response would have been: "Use your power as Vogue to uplift the voices of the leaders of this de-gendering of fashion movement." if he knew this was going to be the outcome.

The impact of Vogue's groundbreaking decision to feature Harry Styles wearing a dress on its December 2020 cover still resonates, with Billy Porter revealing that his feelings towards the matter have not subsided.
