76-year-old Terry Sanderson and Ms. Paltrow claim that one caused a 2016 ski accident involving Ms. Paltrow. Upon sustaining a permanent brain injury and four fractured ribs due to the crash, Mr. Sanderson has filed a $400,000 lawsuit against Ms. Paltrow. Gwyneth Paltrow is countersuing Mr. Sanderson for a symbolic $1, in addition to attorney's fees that could reach thousands of dollars. According to Ms. Paltrow, her damages were influenced by a 2017 sexual assault case against Ms. Swift, where she sought $1 in damages and was asked in court if she was "good friends with Taylor Swift."

Paltrow's Issue With The Sexual Harassment

Ms. Paltrow admitted that the damages she is seeking are symbolic. "It's symbolic because the damages would actually be more," she said before accusing him of attempting to gain an unfair advantage with her celebrity and wealth. Ms. Paltrow's lawyer and I were filmed directly in front of the camera on day two of the trial, violating court etiquette. "This is indeed a violation, and I have requested that the reporter be informed that this is interrupting our proceedings, the Judge said. If it occurs again, the reporter will be asked to leave." After the two fell, Paltrow reportedly felt like they were spooning each other, referring to their initial response as sexual assault.

Sanderson's Daughter's Statement

The Goop founder was "skied out of control," according to Mr. Sanderson and his attorneys, who offered another alternative narrative. Ms. Paltrow denied engaging in "risky behavior" on a ski run with which she was previously acquainted. Upon being brought in by an eyewitness who had a different account of the crash from Ms. Paltrow, she challenged the witness' accuracy and insisted she was hit. Mr. Sanderson's daughter gave a tearful testimony in which she said the crash had changed her father's personality, citing an exchange between him and his granddaughter when he "belittled" her trying to close the car door.

The trial has been dominated by Ms. Paltrow's courtroom style, with several outfits featuring her brand in addition to the different testimonies and heated exchanges. Besides hiding her face from cameras, she used a $250 blue leather notebook. It is anticipated that Mr. Sanderson will testify on Monday, along with medical experts, ski instructors, and Moses and Apple, Paltrow's children.
