An accuser of Marilyn Manson recants sexual abuse allegations

A woman who accused Marilyn Manson of sexual abuse has withdrawn her accusations. Smithline claims that Evan Rachel Wood and others manipulated her into accusing Manson of sexual and physical abuse in a Los Angeles Superior Court filing. According to the Feb. 19 declaration obtained, she was pressured to make false rape and assault allegations against Manson.

Smithline filed a separate lawsuit

Wood and Illma Gore are defendants in a lawsuit brought by Manson against them. A separate lawsuit brought by Smithline against Manson was dismissed a month ago. Smithline said she had a "brief, consensual sexual relationship" with Marilyn Manson, alias Brian Warner in November 2010.

Smithline said she was contacted ten years later by a group of women alleging sexual abuse from Manson after having a relationship with him, which involved "many conversations" with Wood. Even though Warner never assaulted or abused me, Smithline says he has no intention of ever pursuing criminal charges against him.

False accusations spread by manipulation

"Reflecting on what happened, it seems to me that Ms. Wood, Ms. Gore, Ms. [Esmé] Bianco and Mr. Ellwanger had manipulated me to spread false accusations of abuse against Mr. Warner publicly." A lawsuit filed by Smithline alleging that Manson had abused her was dismissed after she missed a filing deadline. Both Gore and Bianco have lodged lawsuits against him alleging sexual abuse.

Manson has denied all the allegations. For alleged sex crimes committed in West Hollywood between 2009 and 2011, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is still considering charging Manson. Manson's alleged assaults may have been too late since the California statute of limitations on rape is ten years. There were no comments available from Wood representatives regarding Smithline's declaration.
