The highly anticipated cage match between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg is now at risk due to a potential surgery Elon may need after a strenuous workout.

The unexpected turn of events has added suspense and intrigue to the showdown between the two tech giants. Elon Musk had boasted about lifting '45 lb weights' on Friday, but now he must undergo an MRI for his neck and back before the match with Zuck."

After bragging about a live streamed cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg, Musk has decided  he wants to get his neck and upper back checked before fixing a date.

Musk in his recent tweet on X in response to a tweet about Zuckerberg waiting for a date to be set for their cage fight, responded "Exact date is still in flux. I'm getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow, and May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week,"

Musk tweeted about his back issues after announcing on Sunday that the match between himself and Zuck will be fully available online for livestream on X previously known as twitter whenever the match happens. The billionaire also added that the fight's proceeds would "go to charity for veterans."

Despite this delay, Musk seems to be taking his preparation for the fight seriously. In July, Canadian UFC fighterGeorges St-Pierre said in a tweet that he had a "great training session" with Musk, the podcaster Lex Fridman, and the martial artist John Danaher.

And on Friday, Musk did a livestream where he lifted some weights. And tagged it "This is me curling a 45 so there you go," Musk said to the camera as he lifted a dumbbell.

Musk's video seemed to be a test-run of Twitter's live video function. In a subsequent tweet, he mentioned that he was doing a quick exercise session while assessing his products.

In his exact words he stated "Product testing & working out kills two birds with one stone! I swing one of the 45 lb weights for a kettlebell workout," later adding in another tweet that he builds muscle fast.

In March 2022, Musk also mentioned his neck and back issues in a video post of a sumo match he previously had participated in; however, he did not specify when this match occurred.

Describing the back injuries he sustained during the match, Musk proudly tweeted “Managed to throw him, but it cost me smashing my c5-c6 disc & 8 years of mega back pain! Finally fixed with c5-c6 disc fusion,".

Not so surprisingly Zuckerberg is not at moved by this latest turn of events in his words on a post on Meta Threads, "I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn't confirmed. Not holding my breath,"

This just goes to show, that Musk seems to having the time of his life with the publicity of their upcoming fight and has no intentions to stop dragging out the date until it soothes him, while Zuckerberg on the other hand seemed to have come to terms with this and isn’t eagerly waiting for a date to be announced.

X's representatives have not yet responded to Insider News outlet request for comment outside of normal business hours. The coming days will be especially important not only for Musk's health but also for the highly-anticipated battle between him and Zuckerberg. Currently, the world is eager to receive further updates in light of Musk's medical condition, which has added an unexpected development to this remarkable event in the tech industry.
