A rarely seen picture of Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise

During her Christmas vacation this year, Katie Holmes was snapped along with her rarely-seen daughter Suri, 16, who she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise. During a photo shoot near their home in Newark Airport near their New York City apartment, the Dawson's Creek actress, 44, was pictured with her smiling daughter.

Despite wearing warm coats, Katie wore a brightly colored face covering and a festive-colored scalf. Deadline reports that Katie's outing coincides with her big return to the New York stage after almost a decade as she prepares for her role in The Wanderers by Anna Ziegler.

Katie's stylist defended her client in response to fashion faux pas reminiscent of the Y2K era earlier this month. It was reported that the actress wore a short blue top over wide-legged jeans at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball, but her outfit was mocked on social media.

During the conversation, others defended Katie's look, adding: "Katie Holmes shocked everyone with her mini dress, bootcut jeans, and new balance sneakers she kinda ate down everybody." But Katie's stylist Brie Welch quickly stepped in to defend the look.

A combination of Brie's style 

During her interview with The New York Times, Brie revealed that the outfit was a combination of her style and Katie's preferences. This top's rich color and subtle bustier effect detailing felt elegant and fun to pair with jeans, making the Jingle Ball and its atmosphere more youthful."

In the morning, she said sneakers would be the best choice since there would be much dancing to Dua Lipa at the concert. As a final comment, the stylist noted that Katie could look cool in a trend that has been around for 20 years.
