The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to Fox News Digital that flights at New York City's LaGuardia Airport were temporarily grounded Wednesday night, as a result of an electrical surge.  Earlier on Monday, the FAA informed the public that it had implemented a ground stop for La Guardia Airport because of law enforcement activity.

"We canceled that ground stop and have resumed normal operations," the FAA said. Law enforcement activity, in this case, is unclear in terms of its exact nature. In unconfirmed reports on social media, which appears to be unconfirmed, an FBI prisoner is said to have escaped custody at the time of the ground stop.

As a result of the ground stop, flights were experiencing an average delay of 45 minutes after its conclusion on Wednesday evening, WABC-TV reported.  As reported by Reuters, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop earlier this week at LaGuardia in response to a staffing shortage in air traffic control, warning that flights could be delayed by up to two hours.

There was a lifting of the ground stop on Monday in response to the protests. As one of Queens, New York's most important airports, LaGuardia Airport is located in Queens and services most of the region.
