Waikiki is a Honolulu neighbourhood on the south shore of the island of Oahu in the United States of America. Waikiki Beach is the most well-known of the district's six beaches, including Queen's Beach, Kuhio Beach, Gray's Beach, Fort DeRussy Beach, and Kahanamoku Beach. Humans nearly entirely construct Waikiki Beach.

Here are some of the fun and interesting facts about Waikiki.

History of Waikiki and the Ala Wai Canal

Since the late 1800s, hotels and homes have been built too near the natural shoreline, and seawalls and other constructions have hindered the natural ebb and flow of sand along the beach, causing erosion.

Many wetlands in Waikiki were thought to host disease-carrying mosquitoes in the early 1900s. Islanders built the Ala Wai canal to keep insects at bay.

Originally known as the Waikiki Drainage Canal, the canal was created by a Hawaiian dredging company run by Walter F. Dillingham. The project took about seven years, 1921–1928.

Yes! It is commonly known as Diamond Head grandly presides over Waikiki, the world-famous Mecca for tourists in the state capital of Honolulu. Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. It's one of several volcanic craters on Oahu that scientists believe were formed between 40,000 and 50,000 years ago.
Diamond Head has large and second large volcanoes called Koolau and Waianae. This two are about 2 to 3 million years old. No Oahu volcano is active.
