Founder Of NCOD

The National Coming Out Day was inaugurated by Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary in 1988. At that time, one of the NCOD idea proposers, O'Leary, was the National Gay Rights Advocates head in Los Angeles. Eichberg had said that the strongest tool of the human rights movement was to prove that more people already recognized and respected somebody in the LBGT community. As well they believed that NCOD would help the LGBTQ+ community people to come out.
