The planet has its own ways to bid goodbye to civilization. It absorbs what it has given us in its own way. Some places are eerily beautiful, and they are mostly uninhabited and abandoned. Without a hint of life, these places, though dead, still evoke a sense of liveliness that is reminiscent of the eventful past it holds within itself. Once a thriving place, these abandoned areas are still one of the most amazing places on Earth. An abandoned ship turned into a Floating Forest

Many boats are abandoned in Homebush Bay in Sydney. The SS Ayrfield is just another one of them. This abandoned ship has turned into a floating forest! What sets this ship apart from the other abandoned ones is the lush green flora adorning it. That's how it earned the name of the Floating Forest. And it's truly an incredible sight!

The prettiest abandoned wooden houses

Once you read about this, you'll think of Russia whenever you think of wooden houses. The forests of Russia have some of the prettiest wooden houses in the world. Because of its location, these houses have been uninhabited for several years. Now, these houses have become sort of a tourist attraction. 

The abandoned mill in Crystal, Colorado

Built-in the late 1800s, this old mill was previously a powerhouse supplying energy for miners who used to work in the silver mining sites of the area. With the requirement dying out, this mill got discontinued in 1917.

The City Hall Loop 

Once a busy terminal station with almost 600 passengers every day, the City Hall Loop that began in 1904, is now nothing but an abandoned place. Because of the rise in the population of New York, the operation of the station was stopped after 40 years. Now, you can still visit the place but only at certain times during the year.

Beelitz-Heilstätten - the abandoned military hospital 

Once a leading hospital for treating neurological disorders and tuberculosis, Beelitz-Heilstätten is now an abandoned place. After Hitler suffered from wounds in World War I, he was treated in this place. During the times of war, this hospital was turned into a military hospital. I'm sure this place has seen a lot of tragic events! 

The Majestic Opera House or New Bedford Orpheum, U.S.A

Originally called the Majestic Opera House, The Orpheum Theater opened on the same day Titanic sank. It opened on the 12th of April, 1912. It could accommodate 1500 people when it opened. After it shut down in 1958-59, it was open only for special events. Finally, it was sold by the French Sharpshooters Club in 1962.

The last standing house on Holland Island 

This house that stood alone on the rapidly eroding Holland Island has seen the mighty war between man and nature. It was built in 1888, and it has seen its share of natural disasters, yet it remained rooted for decades. The last owner tried his best to save the island and the house, but the waters overcame it all.

The abandoned Hashima Island, Japan

Belonging to the Nagasaki Prefecture, Hashima Island is another abandoned island. It is a symbol of the industrialization of Japan and is also known for its history of forced slavery in World War II. It used to be an offshore mining facility.  

The ghost town - Kolmanskop, Namibia

This place was known for having the most popular diamond mines. After German miners came here, soon schools and hospitals were built. However, once the mine got void of resources, the people left and moved southward. Now this place is nothing but a ghost town.

The abandoned luxurious Salto Hotel, Colombia

Built in the early 20th century by architect Carlos Arturo Tapias in Bogota, Columbia, this hotel was one of the most luxurious in the nation. The famous, the powerful, and even the corrupt ones stayed in this hotel. However, as pollution increased in the Bogota River, people stopped visiting this hotel. By the 1990s, the hotel was abandoned.

Glory still intact in the abandoned train station in Abkhazia, Georgia

This train station has been left abandoned ever since the War in Abkhazia between the years 1992 and 1993. Even though it has been decaying, the station interior still has its glory intact.  

The beautiful abandoned fishing village at Gouqi Island, China

Belonging to the Shengi Islands and a part of the Zhoushan Archipelago, Gouqi Island became a victim of pollution. It used to be one of the largest fishing villages of the Archipelago. When the water became polluted, the island got abandoned. However, it is one of the most well-preserved fishing villages, and the ivy-covered houses have become a tourist attraction. The lush greenery of the village is truly a beautiful sight.
