Stay safe! High Covid Community levels in Butler and Warren counties!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Southwest Ohio counties with high COVID Community levels where the cases are increasing throughout the states include Butler, Hamilton, and Warren counties.

New Coronavirus!

In the past weeks, at the community level, the CDC has looked at several new coronavirus cases per 100,000 people admitted to hospitals where most of the cases are occupied by coronavirus patients.

More number of cases!

In some counties, there were 200 cases per 100,000 people and more than ten hospital admissions per 100,000 people. Over 10% of the county's staffed inpatient beds in the hospital are filled with Covid patients.

Weekly increase of cases!

In Butler county 16% increase in new hospital admission despite only a 2% increase in weekly coronavirus cases. Butler County's General Health District promotion director, Erin Smiley, reported about the high Covid community level.

To avoid severe complications!

Smiley said that to avoid severe complications, the first recommendation is to be up-to-date with Covid-19 vaccines, which could prevent hospitalization and death. The second recommendation is to wear a mask while indoors.

Vaccinated county!

According to the Ohio Department of Health, 58.6% of the state of Ohio is fully vaccinated. 64.56% of the Warren County people are fully vaccinated. The Miami Valley was in lags behind the state average. The vaccination rates vary from 38.37% and 47.28% in Darke and Miami counties to 51.36% and 56.79% in Clark and Butler counties. 55.55% and 55.41% in Montgomery and Greene counties had high community-level vaccination rates.

High community level of Covid!

The two local counties of Montgomery and Greene are at the high community level of Covid, where the latest update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention some of the counties like Butler, Clark, Champaign, Miami, Preble, Warren, and Hamilton are also at the high community level.

Report of last week!

The Ohio Department of Health reported 26,610 cases added to the state's total last week. In the second week, Ohio recorded more than 20,000 cases.

Omicron virus!

More than 99% of Ohio's cases were attributed to four Omicron variants from 19th June through 2nd July. Different Omicron is Omicron BA.5, Omicron BA.2.12.1, Omicron BA.2, and Omicron BA.4. Most of the cases were made up of Omicron BA.5 at 45.8%, followed by Omicron BA.2.12.1 had 31.3% cases. Omicron BA.2 and Omicron BA.4 accounted for 11.64% and 10.69% of cases.

Finding out variant!

Ohio uses genomic sequencing to determine the variant, but it can be performed on a PCR test with a high enough viral load. Last week, the number of hospital patients with Covid increased by 13% where a 32% increase in west central Ohio and a 4% increase in southwest Ohio. Totally 1.166 people were hospitalized with Covid in Ohio.

Last week's report!

About 42% of the counties have a high Covid community level and marked increase from the 6.5% counties. 37.6% of counties have a medium community level, and 20.4% are at a low community level.

Precautions!

To avoid the high Covid community level, don't be in close contact with someone at increased risk for severe illness. Wear a mask while indoors. Self-testing is more important if you are under symptoms of Covid.
