The worst weather disaster in western parts of the US left dozens of shoppers camped in a supermarket during Christmas after leaving them stranded for days. Buffalo, New York, has been in the crosshairs of the blizzard that has ravaged much of the country, resulting in more than 30 deaths. As a result of whiteout conditions in Cheektowaga last Friday, 25 drivers had to stay at Target. But they were not able to leave for two days. Jessica Lee shared footage on Facebook of people sleeping on air mattresses between clothes racks and kids reading books and playing Uno to stay entertained in the store.
The highest snowfall records
It has been the scariest experience of my life, but I am safe and warm." She wrote alongside the videos and photos, "I cannot thank the Target employees enough for opening their doors and ensuring we have everything we need; you are life savers." Buffalo's National Weather Service said it had already got 92.7 inches of snow through Christmas Day on Sunday, which is just a few inches short of the average of 95.4 inches Buffalo receives.
The National Guard visited Buffalo residents who lost power during a deadly winter storm on Wednesday to see how they were doing. As people near a major avenue in Buffalo dug their way to businesses, one pair of National Guard troops knocked on a home. According to Eric Durr, troops had done wellness checks before. Still, they had a specific list of questions about residents' food, water, electricity, and special health or medication concerns. Durr explained that troops provided food and water to those who needed it to get a sense of their needs.

Parker's news statement
Officers from Buffalo Police and other agencies also searched for victims, sometimes using their snowmobiles, trucks, and other equipment, according to Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia. In Buffalo, Carolyn Eubanks collapsed when she lost power, according to her son Antwaine Parker, who reported that emergency workers could not respond to calls at the time. "She said, "I can't go any further. I pleaded with her, Mom, stand up." She fell into my arms and never spoke again," Parker told the newspaper person. According to the Niagara County sheriff's office, Timothy Murphy was killed when carbon monoxide flooded his Lockport home due to snow covering the furnace.
It is unclear why Monique Alexander, 52, went out in the storm, but her daughter found her buried in snow. While officials in the region emphasized their preparations, Andel Taylor, 22, died when her car got stuck on the way home from work. She was found buried in snow. Despite being prone to powerful winter storms, the weather was exceptional, according to her family. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, a Democrat, stated at a news conference that the city did everything it could under historic blizzard conditions. Officials were clearing storm drains and watching a forecast that calls for rain later this week in New York's second-most populous city while enough snow remained that driving was still prohibited.
