Chris Beard Arrested and Adjourned From Men’s Basketball Head Coach

The men’s basketball coach, Chris Beard of Texas, adjourned without pay and will not serve as a coach in the team’s game against Rice on Monday night after his morning arrest

Texas said in a statement, ‘The University takes into account the matters of interpersonal violence including members of communal seriously. Considering the information available, the University suspended Chris Beard from his head coach position in the Men’s Basketball. Alongside, he will hold back his pay till further notice.

Rodney Terry Will Be the Head Coach From Now Onwards

 Sources said that the associate head coach Rodney Terry will now be the head coach for the basketball game against Rice. 

A video showed Chris Beard leaving Travis Country Jail before 3 p.m. noon the local time. The head coach was silent when the media members asked several questions about his status on Monday night’s game. 

Tyler Feldman reported that the director of the men’s basketball game, Chris Ogden took Beard up from the jail. Chris was arrested on Monday at 4:18 a.m. by the Austin Police Department and charged with a third-degree felony attack over a household/ family member. 

According to Jeff Borzello and Myron Medcalf of ESPN, Austin police replied, ‘a disturbance hotspot’ happened at midnight Monday. The situations are ‘incidents in progress that seem an instant threat to public safety and life.’ The felony charge includes ‘an impeding breath circulation.’ 

Coach Beard is 100% innocent of these charges

According to the Associated Press, the charges Chris faces of assaulting a household or family member whose breath impeded carry out a probable punishment of 2-10 years in prison in Texas. 

Perry Minton, attorney of Chris, said that the charge does not mortify Chris and that the client was mistakenly arrested. As per Tony Plohetski of the Austin American-Statesman, Minton said, ‘Coach, Chris Beard, is 100% innocent of these charges. He shouldn’t never be arrested. The complainant wants him released instantly and the charges must be dismissed. It’s truly inconceivable.’ 

In the latest AP poll, Chris Beard is ranked No. 2 in his second season as the coach at Texas. Now, on Monday, The Longhorns (7-1) are going to host Rice (6-2) at sharp 8 p.m.
