The life travel of an average healthy person and a person with disabilities will be different. But if the healthy person becomes a disabled person, there will be big changes in the life travel. However, it is not sure that the changed life path of a disabled person is unsuccessful or unhappy. Here is a live example of the successful and happy life of a Paralympic champion who has been healthy until the age of 13.

Sam Grewe was a happy kid until he was diagnosed with bone cancer, osteosarcoma, and a tumor behind his right knee when he was 13. Teenagers will desire to fly with wings. But the beginning part of teens makes Sam a disabled one. How cruel it was. After the diagnosis, Sam Grewe has undergone rotationplasty surgery, as he decided to acquire the possibilities for being an athlete again by skipping the idea of artificial joints.

It Was Fun, But Not Satisfied

After the amputation, Sam Grewe didn't feel that good. Sam relished the fun of playing basketball, football, and lacrosse like a kid before amputation. But the joy of playing those games doesn't satisfy Sam. The decision to compete internationally has made Sam delight satisfyingly.

To Be A Doctor Because Of Being A Patient

It doesn’t mean that success stories should be the reason to choose a career. The dark story can also be a reason for choosing a career. Sam Grewe also decided to choose medicine as his career, as he was in a dark time after an amputation.

The doctors and nurses who have supported Sam to recover after amputation were significantly served, but none are disabled. Hence, Sam suffered in a dark time due to being one leg down patient among the world of normal people. So Sam decided to guide the kids with new disabilities to understand the opportunities for adaptive sports, their success, and joy. Therefore the motive of Sam is to dodge the dark period for kids with disabilities.

Great To Fill The Role Aimed For

Sam Grewe is not a doctor yet, but he has achieved what he set out to do. Sam has become an inspiration for a 10-year-old kid who has been diagnosed with the same bone cancer as him. After being admired for the jumping skill of Sam Grewe, that 10-year-old kid decided to take part in sport and become a soccer player in middle school. Hence Sam felt great to get involved as a kid in adaptive sports.

School Work Supports To Success

Being a medical student is not easy. As well, being a Paralympic champion is also not easy. However, Sam Grewe doesn't confuse his desire towards medicine and sports as complications. Sam felt that school works to be a doctor supports him to focus more on sports and success. That's why he has won the US Paralympics High School Male Field Athlete award for 2016 and 2017, along with various medals as a Paralympian and world championship player.

Incentive In A Podium

There are lots of factors that prove that Sam Grewe won't give space for negative thoughts. For example, while winning the silver medal in 2016, Sam accepted the position on the podium as an incentive for his efforts and success.
