The Green Bay Packers are a professional football team that competes in the National Football Conference's North Division (NFC). They are the third-oldest NFL franchise, established in 1919. They are also the first community-owned, non-profit professional major league team in the United States. Earl "Curly" Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun formed the team. Earl Louis "Curly" Lambeau, the American professional football player and coach in the National Football League, and his friend, Wisconsin native George Whitney Calhoun, founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919. However, not many people know that they started as rivals.
