Simon Crow was born in 1970 and got into fishing from the very early years of his life. He caught his first carp fish in 1980 and considered it a starting milestone in his life. He was the first ever co-winner of the World Carp Cup in 1996, along with Rob Hughes. Due to his fabulous carp fishing, Crow has sponsors such as Avid Carp and DNA Baits.
Two of his favorite places:
Redmire Pool is the favorite place of Simon Crow, where he got his dream fulfilled about fishing his carp. He got to fish there in 2004 when he booked the lake for himself. Simon Crow has gone fishing in various venues abroad. But, given a choice, he would choose Cassien in France. These two places have stolen his heart about carp fishing.

Carp fishing back in time:
Simon Crow’s only favorite place besides Redmire is the Cassien in France, which he found to have a similar environment. Not many know, but according to Simon Crow, Cassien is the first place where the continental carp scene started in the 60s and 70s. However, the British anglers introduced carp fishing in England in the 12th Century.
Fishing in tricky water:
Today Cassien in France is a popular place for anglers to fish various carp. Simon Crow loved Cassien because he could meet new and experienced anglers worldwide. Moreover, Crow has always loved challenges and has found Both the water bodies - Redmire and Cassien - quite tricky, which Crow loves the most.

Carp fishing is his passion:
He loves to get against the current, and the more rigid the waterbody is, the more it makes catching carp thrilling and rewarding. Moreover, Cassien holds a huge standing place on the global carp fishing scene. He has been doing it for four decades and has gained enough worldwide recognition. There are many in carp fishing, but Simon Crow never bothered as he loves doing what he wants. He does take inspiration from his fellow carp anglers, but his carp fishing is a passion driven rather than the desire to make any form of world record.

Crow has traveled far and wide to get his carp fishing passion burning. Simon Crow has gone on to fish at three different venues and caught up to 60lbs carp fish from three different countries. Simon has always found inspiration in Kevin Nash; other than that, he has always found his best friend, Rob Hughes, a significant influence from a very young age. He even won his first-world Carp trophy with Rob Hughes. Not all anglers match Simon Crow’s wavelength; only a few do Crow finds inspiration.
The passion for fishing:
Simon Crow has also found inspiration in Steve Briggs with his carp fishing. Simon used to go fishing with Rob and soon gained recognition in various English districts for his fabulous carp fishing techniques. He always found something customized in his carp fishing that differed from other carp anglers. Crow has, over the years, learned to love carp fishing and found his hobby one of the best things which have happened in his life. Today he goes fishing for carp out of his love rather than money or anything else.

Simon Crow became acquainted with carp fishing through reading books written by Kevin Maddocks, one of the renowned carp anglers. Simon fell in love with fishing, especially carp fishing, from a very young age. He admits that his obsession with carp fishing has previously affected his relationship, and he divorced. But, still, Crow cannot leave his carp fishing as the angler thinks he is born to do so. He can go high and low to every traditional water of old England with a passion for fishing carp.

But then again, Simon Crow finds himself very driven and admits that not all women will be able to get along with his passion.

Even after four decades, his drive has not burnt out; he still finds himself driven enough to get up early in the morning and go fishing in the lake. He wakes up early and finds it thrilling to go back to the water and find the carp he needs for the day. He skims through the fish as he comes across them and repeats the process daily. Simon Crow always finds the motivation in packing up and setting up and going on fishing every day. People usually lose interest and encouragement as they age, but Simon Crow has become much more passionate about carp fishing every year. He still gets that inner drive to get up and get going for fishing.

Simon Crow loves carp fishing and does not find himself leaving his passion in the future. Crow was introduced to the fishing world when he was three or four, and it has stuck with him for this long. Even though younger generations have turned up and the older generations have retired from the hobby, Simon Crow still finds carp fishing a way to find his love in the aquatic world. Various other British carp anglers have set records for fishing the heaviest of carp. But, that doesn’t demotivate him; he considers fishing a part of his life, and nothing can stop him from doing it.

His memories of fishing:
Simon recalled that he got introduced to fishing when he went on to accompany his dad and granddad to the nearby lakes when he was only five. However, later on, when his parents divorced, he used to go fishing with his dad. Simon Crow started loving fishing from a tender age through his family and soon found his love of life more than anything else. He recalled that when he was ten years old, he used to go out fishing with his dad. During that time, Crow stayed with his mother and stepdad. However, he did use to spend time with his father by learning various ways of fishing.

A childhood memory:
One day, Crow senior called Simon and told him they could not go fishing because it was raining outside. Simon remembered he was devastated just because he could not go fishing with his dad as it was raining, and he found himself going sad. Simon could not stop fishing, whether it was raining or getting married or having to go out on a dinner date. Carp fishing is a part of Simon’s soul, and he finds a way to get his drive going.

Simon Crow once recalled that his ex-wife reminded him not to get late and not to make her wait, but then, Simon always wanted to keep his carp fishing first and then all other things after that. So, having a relationship with him is difficult, he thinks so, because he would always choose fishing over a date night out with his girlfriend or partner. He has gone on to say that he has ruined many of his relationships due to his crazy-driven attitude towards carp fishing.

Simon Crow was acquainted with the stories about carp fishing from his dad, granddad, and other anglers and read about the greatest anglers of carp fishing back then. When Simon started fishing, he used to go for anything back then to gain experience. Crow began from small roaches to fishing tench and then moved on to perch. However, initially, he did not know what they were like, but he started growing a passion for carp fishing sooner than he could think. He always found a way to gain accessibility to all types of European water bodies and to explore his fishing.

People always remember their first of everything, so Simon Crow will never forget his first carp fishing as it made his reel fall off his rod during the commotion with the fish. He was always preparing for carp fishing but caught his first one in 1980 from Leightons Pool in Wolverhampton. The pool was close to his then-home, and Crow loved it. Back then, when he was naive in carp fishing, the first carp he caught weighed around eight pounds. He was thrilled to be able to capture such a big fish in his initial days.

Even after so many decades, Simon Crow thinks about his first day in fishing. Back then, he was young and naive and didn’t know how to tackle a big fish. Crow still sometimes doubts that he caught the carp fish as an angler. Firstly, because the naive angler was so nervous back then, it was challenging for him to find balance while keeping the power of the fish as one of the leading fishing factors. He never knew how to handle such a big fish; before that, he caught small fish. However, his first catch drew his passion toward carp fishing.

Simon Crow won the World Carp Cup championship in 1996 and gained national recognition. The world champion always found a special attachment to fishing, even before discovering carp fishing. His passion for fishing is so much that he could not think of leaving it even for a day, for meager reasons like rain, storm, or heat. Simon Crow might be an atheist, but he does believe in destiny; things that are meant to happen are going to happen. He always knew he would be a carp angler, pursuing his dreams and turning them into reality.

Simon Crow always believed that fishing was his soulmate and his purpose in life was to go fishing and enjoy every moment. He thinks he was born fishing and will keep fishing until his last breath. When Crow was growing up, there was no means of earning through fishing unless one had a personal business or sold fish in a shop. But, Simon made a career out of it; people go fishing to sell it and use it as a medium of business, but Simon finds a unique adrenaline rush through fishing and made a career out of his passion. Today he is known as a renowned carp angler, but he still does not see himself in that manner.

Simon Crow recalled that his mother always wanted him to get a stable job, like going to the military or navy or contacting an office job. Back then, he used to stay with his mom and stepdad and followed the 9 to 5 rule. But, he always found fishing his only means to get along with is a career. Even though Simon Crow initially tried to go in the way his mother wanted him to. But, after a brief period, Crow realized his heart lies in fishing, and he shifted back to what he loved to do by channeling all his energy to find the best carp fish.

There are various types of carp fishing - match fishing, fishing for baits, and fishing big fish. Simon Crow has experience in all of them. But, Simon does have other hobbies. He loves sport and has been acquainted with sports since the 90s. However, with age and his full-time devotion to carp fishing, Simon Crow does not get to play much these days. However, he always believes in staying fit, so he has found his newfound hobby in the running. He always took up new challenges irrespective of age and maintained good shape.

Simon Crow even participated in marathons and has enjoyed running till now. Whenever he gets the chance, he goes out for a long run. Crow has already completed nine half-marathons so far. However, he gave his best shot with three hours, fourteen minutes, and eleven seconds run to date. He has already participated in three marathon majors: New York, Chicago, and Berlin. Crow is looking forward to participating in the upcoming major marathons.

Simon Crow said that with age and experience, he has more concentrated on targeted fishing. He has fished in various waters, so he does not have the eagerness to run to diversifying water bodies to get the best carp fish. Crow does not bother whether the fish is big or small; size doesn’t matter to him anymore, nor does the label attached. He usually goes for a specific target and goes on catching a particular carp in a nearby lake. That makes it easier for him to keep on with his passion and explore more through carp fishing. He enjoys his fishing rather than competing or taking up challenges.

He went to enjoy all forms of fishing and still does so every day now. When he was gaining recognition through carp fishing twenty-five years back, Simon Crow was at a show, and someone asked him about giving tips to catch big carp fish. Then, he was not experienced enough to provide recommendations about catching a big carp, as he could not catch himself. He was not able to share his tips back then. However, now Simon Crow has experience as a carp angler and has gone on to carp fishing in every quarter of Europe. He even went fishing at Central Park and has experience fishing in running water.

Right now, the 52 years old carp fisher has shared his way of making rigs and using them for fishing as he has done for the last twenty years. According to Simon Crow, a flexible hook link helps determine the type of rig an angler want to create for their carp. During his twenties, he used to stay with his mom and stepdad in the city of England - Wolverhampton. Simon Crow has received loads of requests to teach carp fishing, and after taking it as a profession in the market of carp fishing tutorials, he leads a few lucky guys to fish carp. He selects a few anglers yearly and only goes carp fishing in East Yorkshire or Nottinghamshire. However, some young anglers do get sheer guidance from him in catching the giant carp. Simon Crow maintains a blog on Google blogger where he shares his experience as a carp angler. However, recently he hasn’t updated anything on his blog due to his busy schedule and added coaching responsibilities.
