She doesn't live in a library, after all

Ashley Tisdale acknowledged to Architectural Digest that her bookshelves were completely bare just days before the magazine visited her Los Angeles home for a tour."To be honest, these bookshelves didn't have books in them a couple days before," she admitted in a video from her living room. "I told my husband to go to the bookstore and grab 400 books," she says.Christopher French, the "High School Musical" star's husband, preferred to buy books "over time," but Tisdale needed the shelves to be camera-ready.

Collecting books

"Obviously, my husband said, 'We should be collecting books and putting them on the shelves over time.' "And I was like, 'No, no," she remembers, while laughing.Tisdale, 36, designed her own home in Los Angeles for herself, her husband, 39, and their 1-year-old daughter, Jupiter.Tisdale, who moved into the house when she was seven months pregnant during the COVID-19 outbreak, remarked, "I pretty much designed this whole house through Instagram." A few of my old books

When a fan said the admission left her "speechless," Tisdale defended the move, writing, "Let's clear this up. There are a few of my old books in there, but there are 36 shelves that store 22 books that I didn't have, and any interior designer would do the same. They do it all the time; I was simply being honest."After working with specialists on her previous properties, the actress created her own interior design firm.

Working with designers

"Working with designers taught me that I'll have a vision, and they'll have a vision," she explained. "However, they're extremely skilled at what they do." It's stunning. 'Well, I adore it,' you say."The "He Said She Said" singer had to trust her instincts now that she was operating her own firm."I adore this house," she told the publication. "I'm incredibly pleased of all I've done here, and I adore every piece of it."
