Early Life

Ernest Joseph "Trey" Anastasio III was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 30, 1964. When he was three years old, his family relocated to Princeton, New Jersey, where successful parents reared him and his sister.

His mother was a well-known novelist and the editor of Sesame Street Magazine, and his father worked as an executive vice president at the Educational Testing Service.

Anastasio graduated from a private school after initially attending public schools during his formative years. Trey met Steven Pollak (the Dude of Life) while attending private school, and with his assistance, he wrote several songs that Phish subsequently released.

Anastasio entered the University of Vermont after finishing high school and studied philosophy there. During his undergraduate years, Trey met numerous future Phish members, including Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, and Jeff Holdsworth.

These pals originally began playing together at the campus cafeteria in 1983. The audience, though, could have been more enthusiastic about the band.

Trey once visited his native New Jersey and met with old pals, including Marc Daubert, Tom Marshall, and Page McConnell. These people would eventually join Pish. Trey also collaborated with Ernie Stires, who helped him develop his musical abilities. In 1988, Anastasio earned his degree from the institution, but by then, he had transferred to Goddard College.

Career

Following the formation of Phish, the band gained notoriety for musical improvisation, jamming, and experimenting with other genres. Since the beginning of the band, Anastasio has performed as the lead guitarist and singer.

The White Tape, Phish's debut album, was released in 1986. 1988 saw the release of "The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday," a significant record. Trey actually completed this as his senior project during his last year at Goddard College.

Trey and the rest of the band began taking themselves more seriously and frequently practising after the release of their second studio album. Their first full-length album, "Junta," is the product of this.

They achieved widespread success and began travelling the country in the 1990s. They got a lot of attention on MTV as well. The band finally disbanded in 2004. They did, however, come back together in 2009 and put out a reunion album. After this reunion, they resumed their rehearsals together and continued to play shows as Phish.

Trey founded the Trey Anastasio Band in 1998. The ensemble was still on the road in 2018. Anastasio is also well-known for his solo work, on which he has teamed up with a huge variety of other artists.

Legal Issues

In Whitehall, New York, in 2006, Trey was stopped by the police for committing a driving infraction. He later failed his sobriety test, which resulted in a DUI accusation.

Officers discovered heroin and a variety of other substances when they searched his car. Trey was handed a reduced felony drug charge after entering a plea of guilty and was made to complete a 14-month programme that included drug tests, community service, and rehab. His conviction was downgraded to a misdemeanour once he successfully completed the programme. Since 2007, Anastasio has been sober.

Real estate

Trey reportedly listed his Palisades, New York, property for $2.995 million in 2015. The house is situated in the upscale suburb of Snedens Landing and was originally purchased by him from actress Lorraine Bracco in 2009 for $2.7 million.

The home is located on the Hudson River, just 25 minutes from New York City, and right next to 2,500 acres of riverside parkland. The house has a rocky cove on the Hudson River that is all to itself. The house also has three bedrooms and 2,121 square feet of living space.

According to a story from 2018, Anastasio was still attempting to sell the house and had reduced the asking price by $700,00. Later in the year, Trey agreed to pay $1.83 million, assuming a sizable loss.

In reality, he had previously paid approximately $1 million more for it over ten years earlier than the ultimate selling price. Trey also has a co-op condominium in Central Park West, New York, for which he first paid $2.6 million in 2006.

Additionally, he owns a piece of land in Burlington, Vermont, that is used for professional recording and rehearsing. Since 1999, Phish has recorded most of their albums at this location, also referred to as "The Barn" or "The Farmhouse." Other musicians, such as Bela Fleck and John Patitucci, have also used "The Barn" to record their albums.
