Robert Plant was born in the Black Country town of West Bromwich, England. His parents were Robert C. Plant and Annie Celia Plant. During the Second World War, Robert C. Plant was a civil engineer who worked in the Royal Air Force. Annie Celia Plant is a Romani woman. At an early age, Plant attended King Edward VI Grammar School for Boys and became interested in singing and rock and roll music. He left as a chartered accountant after only two weeks to attend college to gain more GCE passes and become a part of the English midlands blues scene.

Career

Robert Plant left home at sixteen to become part of the English Midlands blues scene. He sang with several bands, including the Crawling King Snakes, Hobbstweedle and the Band of Joy.

In 1968, Plant was hired immediately after the audition, and the band was renamed, Led Zeppelin.

In the 1970s, Plant's contributions and charisma were instrumental in establishing Led Zeppelin as the biggest band and one of the greatest bands in the history of rock music.

In 1982, after the break-up of Led Zeppelin, he embarked on a successful solo career by releasing his debut album, Pictures at Eleven.

In 1984, he put together a short-lived supergroup with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck called The Honeydrippers.

In 2002, he formed Strange Sensation and released a series of critically acclaimed blues and folk remakes.

From 2007 to 2008, Plant recorded and performed with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.

From 2010 to 2011, Plant embarked on the band of joy group.

From 2012 to 2018, Robert Plant first reported on the new band of Sensational Space Shifters.

From 2019 to the present, he performed in the saving Grace and Alison Krauss reunion.

Robert Plant won numerous awards and accolades in his solo career and also in his career with Led Zeppelin. Some awards are the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, several Grammy Hall of Fame inductions, the Polar Music Prize, the Ivor Novello Award and Kennedy Center honours. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the UK Music Hall of Fame and the Mojo Hall of Fame 100.

He later married Shirley Wilson, sister of his former wife Maureen, and had a child named Jesse Lee, born in 1991.
