Early Life

Redman was born Reginald "Reggie" Noble on April 17, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey. He was raised by his mother, Darlene, father, Eddie, and sister, Roz, a rapper who has appeared on a number of his brother's tracks. Rapper Rahm Brown, commonly known as Tame One, is his cousin. Redman graduated from West Side High School, Speedway Avenue School, and 13th Avenue School. He also attended Montclair State University but was expelled during his first year due to poor academic standing. Redman, who was only 16 years old when he moved back in with his mother, was forced to do so after she learned that he was dealing cocaine.

At the age of 18, he began DJing in parks and at house parties under the name DJ Kut-Killa. Later, he joined Lords of the Underground and was discovered by hip-hop duo EPMD's Erick Sermon. Redman relocated to Sermon's residence on Long Island and started traveling with EPMD. He used every letter of the alphabet to describe himself as a rapper during a freestyle rap performance at an EPMD concert in 1990, and soon after that, he earned a recording deal with Def Jam.

Redman contributed to the EPMD album "Business as Usual" in 1990 on the songs "Brothers on My Jock" and "Hardcore," then on September 22, 1992, he released his debut album, "What? Thee Album." "Blackout! 2," a 2009 release from Method Man and Redman, peaked at #2 on both the Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums lists.

Redman released his first album, "Reggie," in 2010 and his second, "Mudface," in 2015. In 2020, Redman's record company, Gilla House, released the EP "3 Joints." Personal Life

Redman is married and has two children from a prior relationship, in addition to three children with his current wife. His modest Staten Island home was highlighted in an "MTV Cribs" episode from 2001. He continued to reside in the two-bedroom, two-bathroom property as of 2017, telling "XXL" magazine, "I wouldn't know what to do with a big house... I enjoy simply residing in a pleasant environment. Redman supports the charity 211 Community Impact, which was established by his pal Dupré L. Kelly.
