Pat was bored with her life as a housewife and Bank teller. So she quit her job and joined a singing gig at Holiday Inn. Here Pat got a job as a Singing waitress at The Roaring Twenties, a nightclub. She met pianist Phil Coxon, and together the duo was formed. It then became a group of ten people forming a band named Coxon's Army.

Coxon Army was a well-renowned band. Later Pat's husband Dennis was discharged from the Army. Then the couple moved to New York City in 1975. It was when Pat started pursuing her solo career as a singer. Pat's rendition of Rock-a-Bye Your Baby With a Dixie Melody" grabbed Rick Newman's attention, who was also her manager. For three years, Pat was a regular performer at Rising Star, a club. She also recorded various commercial jingles, including Pepsi-Cola and many more renowned brands. Pat 1978 signed a deal with Chrysalis Records.

Later Pat and Dennis were divorced however she didn't change her name.

In 1985, Pat released her album Tropico. It could have gone better. The single from the album ``We Belong" made it to the top 10 in the US and globally. Pat released six more studio albums. While Pat was growing up, she went on many tours.

In 1997 Pat released "Innamorata," and after that, she released one in 2003 called "Go"; it was released in 187 in the US. In 2015, she released a holiday song in November, "One December Night."

Pat also released a song to support the Women's March on January 21, 2017. The name of the song was Shine.

Later Pat collaborated with Linda Perry, and together they produced Dancing Through the Wreckage for the documentary Served Like a Girl.
In 2017 the song was on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart. It made it to number 22 on Billboard. While Dancing through the Wreckage received a nomination for the Best Song category from a Documentary from the Critics' Choice Awards.
