The early life

Mya's full name is Mya Marie Harrison was born in Washington DC on October 10, 1979. Her father named, Sherman, was a music artist and singer himself. Her mother, Theresa, worked as an accountant.

Mya took ballet lessons at age two and tap when she was four. She also took violin classes in elementary school. Mya studied with Savion Glover, a very well-known dancer in the world. He also gave Mya a solo spot in Kennedy Center at 12.

She also worked in "Love for Sale", making it her fifth film. Mya's fifth album, "Sugar and Spice", was released in 2009. The same year she played a role in "Bottleworld" and was a contestant in "Dancing with the Stars" and stood second. In 2011 Mya collaborated with French DJ Cedric Gervais's single "Love is the Answer." Simultaneously she released her single "Fabulous life", which released her first single from her sixth album, "K.I.S.S.", in April 2011 Mya dropped her seventh album, "Smoove Jones," on February 14, 2016.

The album was no 30 on the Billboard Chart. It also earned a Grammy nomination for best R&B album. In spring 2020, Mya released two singles, "You Got Me, Part II" and "Space & Time."
