Don Cherry is a Canadian ice hockey commentator and former professional hockey player/NHL coach who has a net worth of $14 million. Don Cherry was once a prolific hockey player in the NHL and the AHL but is best known as a commentator and analyst to his hockey fans today. After his NHL career ended, he began coaching the Boston Bruins, leading them to many titles.

Speaking of his broadcasting career, Don is best known as the host of "The Coach's Corner". He hosted this segment from 1986 to 2019. Cherry was eventually removed from SportsNet in 2019 after making comments that angered various parties. Despite the end of Coach's Corner, he continued to host the radio show Grapeline. After being removed from Sportsnet, the radio show continued in podcast format.

Throughout his career in broadcasting, Don has become known for his sense of style and outspoken (and sometimes controversial) personality. Some of his more controversial statements include climate change denial and support for his invasion of Iraq in 2003. Don Cherry's Early Life

Donald Stewart Cherry was born on February 5, 1934, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Don soon pursued a junior and minor league hockey career, and his family frequently moved. In 1997, Rose died of cancer. He married his second wife, Luba, in 1999.

Players History

Don began his hockey career playing for the Juniors of the Ontario Hockey Association's Barry His Flyers and Windsor His Spitfires. After dropping out of high school, Cherry joined the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears. He played his only NHL game with the Boston Bruins a year later. Don claims a baseball injury he suffered early in his career prevented him from making the NHL. He originally retired in 1970 but retired in 1972 to play for the Rochester Americans. At Rochester, he won the Cup three more times. In 1969, he also won the Vancouver He Canucks Western Hockey He League Championship.

Don Cherry's Coaching Career

After retiring from his career, Don tried to succeed as a car salesman and construction worker but returned to ice hockey with a coaching career. He was eventually named Boston his Bruins' head coach for the 1974–75 season. In the '70s, under Cherry's leadership, the Bruins became one of the better teams in his NHL. He finished his career as a coach with the Colorado Rockies and then with teams like the Saskatoon Blues.

In 1980, Don Cherries was hired by CBC as his commentator in colour. "Coach's Corner" was soon created and aired along with "Canadian Hockey Nights". 

Besides his work in the sports world, Don His Cherry has appeared in television shows such as Mickey His Mouse, Goosebumps, Holmes Holmes, and The Power of His Play. He also voiced the animated version of himself in 'Zeroman'.He also voiced the character in the animated film 'The Wild'.

In the 1980s, Don opened a chain of restaurants in Hamilton. Don Cherry's Sports Grill has since opened stores in various provinces across Canada. Additionally, Cherry has partnered with Pethealth Inc. to develop the CherryBlue pet insurance program. The program is named after his bull terrier named, Blue.

Cherry is also known for its many years of philanthropy. He founded the Don Cherry Pet Rescue Foundation. He also has his pet treats sold under the Simply Pets brand, and all profits from these products go to animal welfare organisations. In addition, Don is an advocate for organ donation.
