Clara Wu Tsai, also called Clara Wu, was born in 1966 to Dr De Min Wu and Chin-Sha Wu in Lawrence, Kansas, in the United States. At the University of Kanas, her father taught economics. She attended Stanford University for her undergraduate studies and then was admitted into Harvard Business School, where she earned her degree. She earned a master's degree in international relations from Harvard Business School before finishing her MBA coursework.

Professional career

Clara began her career as a senior manager for the international corporation American Express. She then received the job of Vice President in the company's Business Analysis division. Later, she accepted a position as an executive in the Hong Kong division of Taobao, a subsidiary of Alibaba.

Clara is also credited for starting the Reform Alliance, a nonprofit group that serves as a forum for the criminal justice system. She also bought stock in the NBA franchise, the Brooklyn Nets.
