Some TikTok users are saying that adhering to the "lion diet," also known as the "carnivore diet," can have "miraculous health benefits."
Simple dietary restrictions apply, such as prohibiting fruits, vegetables, soda, and allowing only "ruminant" animals, which are described as herbivorous grazing mammals like sheep, goats, and bison. One extra restriction: salt is the sole permitted seasoning.
After posting a video explaining the "lion diet," one TikTok user known as "@roryskitchen" became quite popular. With the rest of his current series garnering millions more views, that video alone has garnered approximately 10 million views on the platform.
In one of his earliest TikTok videos chronicling the 30-day health challenge, he said, "As someone who is intolerant to everything under the sun, I believed it was my duty to attempt this diet to see if it will address any of my health problems."
The well-known TikToker explained that he started the diet in an effort to treat his "inflamed and leaky gut, autoimmune symptoms, and health concerns" and currently has 221,000 followers and 2.8 million likes on TikTok. He also acknowledged that he was interested in learning how a diet consisting solely of meat, salt, and water might impact his "poop."
He stated that the first night of his carnivorous diet was "the best night of sleep." Later, he said that his bowel motions were more "regular" than they were earlier in the diet.
In the first of his numerous videos detailing his journey, TikToker "roryskitchen" said that Daily Wire+ presenter Jordan Peterson and his daughter, podcaster Mikhaila Peterson, motivated him to start the "lion diet."
He captioned a photo, saying, "I kept seeing videos of @mikhailapeterson and Jordan B Peterson floating around on my FYP, Reels & Shorts talking about how they healed severe auto-immune illnesses eating this manner.
On a "Joe Rogan Experience" episode, Jordan Peterson claimed that he "stopped snoring the first week" of the "lion diet" and that his "psoriasis disappeared."
In a TEDx talk, Mikhaila Peterson promoted the diet in the same way. The host of "The Mikhaila Peterson Podcast" mentioned during her address that her "depression went away" and that her "fatigue went away for the first time since Grade 8." As a teenager and young adult, she too battled chronic ailments for years.
