Ongoing Monkeypox outbreak in the US! Monkeypox vaccines are getting people at risk!

In the US, more than 12,000 cases and more are affected by Monkeypox. There are only a limited amount of vaccines available. The Jynneos vaccine is a new strategy that stretches the current supply, and there is no evidence that protection is reaching most at risk.

This month offered a new insight into the population’s outbreak. Monkeypox case records are published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and disproportionately affect Black and Hiic people. The Monkeypox cases have been among Hiics (28%) or Black People (26%), that make up only a third of the general population.

More than 70% of the cases have been among Black People, but only a quarter (26%) of vaccines have gone to Black People in North Carolina. In Colorado, less than 15% of Monkeypox vaccines have gone to black people or Hiics.

Monkeypox vaccine!

A mutual agreement gets finalized by CDC to funnel Monkeypox vaccination from various sources. It’s an addendum to the Covid-19 data use agreement and would apply the same requirements and provisions. Fifty states for demographic details that had received the Monkeypox vaccine did not respond at all. The data was not released because of the small number of people who have been vaccinated or a delay in processing the demographic data.

Monkeypox is further stigmatized by gay and other men who have sex with men, and the interactions with Black and Latino men are the most impacted. Additional vaccine supply was made available to a state where Becerra emphasized the need for collaboration and coordination. He mentioned that we would continue working with state partners to ensure equitable and fair distribution of these vaccine doses to protect most at risk and limit the spread of the virus.
