On June 24, Taylor Swift released the full version of her song Carolina from the movie Where The Crawdads Sing, which is the soundtrack to her new movie. As Swift shared on social media after the release of the song, "I wrote this one alone in the middle of the night" According to her, she wanted the sound of the movie to "be authentic to the moment when this story takes place." Delia Owen's best-selling novel Where The Crawdads Sing inspires the movie.

After the trailer was released, Swift posted an Instagram picture recalling how, years ago when she first read the book, she "got completely lost in" it and couldn't stop thinking about it. Upon hearing Daisy Edgar-Jones was starring in the film and Reese Witherspoon was producing it, she knew she "wanted to be a part of it on the musical side." To make Carolina a reality, the 11-time Grammy winner turned to Aaron Dessner to produce it. Swift intended to create something haunting and ethereal to accompany the mesmerizing story of the book. On July 15th, the movie will be released in theatres and is starring Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson, Michael Hyatt, Sterling Macer, and David Strathairn.
