Days of Our Lives debuted with Lauren Koslow in 1996

Viewers of "Days of Our Lives" know that Salem has no shortage of strong women with a flair for drama. Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus), Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk, Eileen Davidson), and many others have stirred up trouble over the years, according to TV Overmind. Kate Roberts, however, cannot be left out. In 1996, Lauren Koslow made her debut on NBC's soap opera Kate and quickly became a fan favorite. Kate has had romantic relationships with characters ranging from Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) to John Black (Drake Hogestyn) Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and many others. Furthermore, she has lied, schemed, cheated, blackmailed, and attempted to kill multiple characters (via Soap Central) in order to get what she wants. There are times when Kate isn't ruthless and rough. Additionally, she has a soft spot for those she loves, including her children, Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson), Billie Reed (Lisa Rinna), and Austin Reed (Austin Peck), and the twins, Rex, and Cassie Brady. In addition, she has become a mother figure to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) over the years, reports Soaps in Depth.

Co-star Joseph Mascolo is one of her favorite storylines

"Days of Our Lives" has seen a lot of drama over the years, and Lauren Koslow wouldn't have it any other way, reports Soap Central. As part of her milestone anniversary celebration, the actress revealed some of her favorite storylines, including Kate's years-long rivalry with her enemy Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel). "Both women were powerful and evenly matched. There were great stories. We had some catfights and physical battles back then," Koslow told Soap Opera Digest. Her favorite plotlines include working at Titan, where we all had offices and her character's relationship with Stefano. It was my dream to work with Joe Mascolo, and I was ecstatic about it," she revealed. "... Overall, I think that's one of my favorite stories." She also admitted that although Kate is a strong woman, there have been times when the character went too far. According to Koslow, one of Kate's worst mistakes was poisoning Chloe Lane. "It was so much fun to do, but she lost touch with herself and reality at that point. So I think that was her darkest time," she admitted. Through it all, Koslow simply feels grateful to be working on "Days of Our Lives" after all these years. It's been great. It's been wonderful to have had a character like Kate. It's incredible that I can still laugh and get excited about her story and her," she said.
