About Avatar

A reticent hero sets out on a voyage of discovery and atonement as he leads an epic fight to save civilization in the live-action movie "Avatar," which employs the latest in special effects technology. When the tools to execute his vision were not yet available, "Titanic" filmmaker James Cameron, who won an Oscar, originally had the idea for the movie years ago. After four years of actual production, "Avatar" now offers a completely immersive cinematic experience of a new sort, where the ground-breaking technology created for the movie blends into the drama and passion of the plot.

Film Synopsis

The Navi are creatures who appear basic but are highly evolved. They inhabit the beautiful, extraterrestrial world of Pandora. Because of the planet's toxic environment, human/Navi hybrids known as Avatars are required to attach to human minds in order to be able to walk freely on Pandora. A paraplegic former Marine named Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is given mobility through one such Avatar and develops feelings for a Navi lady (Zoe Saldana). He is lured into a struggle for the continuation of her planet as his friendship with her deepens.
