The Honest Trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness raises some valid concerns about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's X-Men, though the team will be back in the future. After the original writer/director Scott Derrickson left with creative partner C. Robert Cargill due to creative disagreements with Marvel Studios. Sam Raimi would take over the helm and write the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Loki creator Michael Waldron penning the screenplay.

In the Multiverse of Madness, Benedict Cumberbatch reprised his role as Doctor Strange, meeting the multiverse-traveling America Chavez and learning she is being hunted down by a corrupted Wanda Maximoff, who wants to use her powers to head to another universe and be reunited with her sons. The sequel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe received mainly positive reviews from critics on account of Raimi's stylish direction, a shift to a horror tone, and Elizabeth Olsen's performance, while criticism centered on its overstuffed plot and rushed pacing. In spite of its poor reviews, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a box office hit, grossing over $951 million against its $200 million production budget to become the highest-grossing film of the year, only to be recently surpassed by Top Gun: Maverick.

It has just been a few weeks since Screen Junkies premiered its Honest Trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The video pokes fun at the movie's lack of exploration of multiverses and brings up valid concerns about the MCU's X-Men and Fantastic Four. Since Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier and John Krasinski's Reed Richards died in the MCU, many audiences have been left wondering what the future could hold for both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Marvel has already confirmed plans for both superhero teams in the future, with a Fantastic Four film having been in the works with Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. Watts stepped down earlier this year because he wanted to take a break from the superhero genre, and a mutant-centered movie.

With Stewart's return as Xavier in the sequel, many MCU fans were hopeful that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would introduce the X-Men to the franchise, though Stewart's death has left many uncertain about how they will make their franchise debuts. One of the biggest criticisms audiences will agree with from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Honest Trailer is Wanda's actions in the MCU sequel after WandaVision. Olsen defends her story in the film, explaining that Wanda is processing huge emotions and that her life has been corrupted by the Darkhold, despite the fact that many feel the former was adequately explored in the Disney+ series and that the movie's conclusion was disappointing. Disney+ is now streaming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for audiences to revisit and decide for themselves.
