The NBC show's July 19 episode featured country music girl group Chapel Hart winning over not only the judges and audience but also the queen of country music herself. In response to their original song, "You Can Have Him, Jolene," inspired by Parton's classic, Parton took to Twitter after the show to thank them for that song. On July 20, the 76-year-old tweeted, "What a great rendition of my song from @ChapelHartBand!" On July 20, the 76-year-old tweeted, "I'm keeping Carl around because his birthday is today, and I am not informing Jolene of it."

During the scripting of "Jolene," Dolly Parton based the character on her husband, Carl Dean, a redheaded woman who tried to steal her husband. In addition to sharing their love of country music and Parton with the judges before their performance, Chapel Hart's Trea Swindle, Danica Hart, and Devynn Hart also shared the inspiration for their song.

As Danica said, the song 'Jolene' inspired her and the storyline just appealed to her. We reasoned that after all these years, we couldn't still be fighting over the same man. So, we told Jolene, "Do whatever you want with him." Furthermore, the group talked about their struggles as Black women in country music trying to break into Nashville. Simon Cowell told the women that they had to break down this door and that performance might have done just that.

The judge then stated if he hadn't already used his Golden Buzzer on them, he would have. The panel, consisting of Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofa Vergara, followed up with a surprising move and hit the Golden Buzzer simultaneously, sending Chapel Hart through to the live shows for season 17.
