Suppose you are also someone who gets extremely irritated by the celebrities who claim that they 'hate' to be celebrities. Such quotes from them may hype your anger, but you may want to be a bit more empathetic towards them. You may not believe it but fame at times sound downright awful. These celebs don't hallways enjoy the spotlight they get. Once you hear their side of the story, you'll understand why they hate the spotlight. Undoubtedly, being a celebrity has its own perks – clothes, travel, money, a cool job, and more. Yet, there are some downsides as well. For some celebs, it doesn't feel worth it.

Stalked by media, losing self-esteem, substance abuse, and no privacy are a few issues these celebrities had to deal with as they are so famous.

During the peak times of Twilight, Pattinson wasn't even able to go to the grocery shop; the paparazzi was always waiting for him outside his home and defined how lonely he felt because of the fame. Pattinson says it's lovely that the mania is not so intense now. People reach out to him with such fond memories of Twilight. This is so sweet. The scary thing was only when the franchise's popularity was sky-rocketing. The intensity has melted out now, and only warm memories are left.

There were specific points in Selena Gomez's career when she got more attention for her personal life than for what she did professionally. It really took a toll on her. During an interview back in April 2020, Schumer mocked her, saying that Gomez can't even cough without it being a trend in the news. Selena Gomez said that she doesn't remember a time when such things were not happening to her. What kept her going was that she knew gradually it would be someone else – and this is in no way in the negative sense. She further added that because of her fame, she talks about things that are important to her, such as mental health, that could help others. The massive part of why she has a platform is to help other people. That's why she thinks she is okay with the intensity. She means – she's not really okay with it, but she will say that she is because it's worth it.

Billie Eilish

A young star who had to undergo a lot of scrutinies was Billie Eilish, an 18-year-old singer. It's no surprise that she sometimes hated the spotlight she got. She liked being famous but hated it at one point in time. She hated doing press, and she hated being recognized as well, and she kind of hated everything which had anything to do with it. There is a lot of popularity, which is just horrible, miserable, and gross. But, she doesn't want to be focused on the negative any longer. She is really grateful for it, and it's such a rare thing, and she is very lucky. That's why she is done complaining about it.

Emma Stone suffered from anxiety and panic attacks since her childhood. So, these issues surfaced again when her career began to take off. Stone revealed that interviews are a common aspect, make making her anxious. Before all the interviews, she has to sit with herself for five minutes, breath, and be composed because she gets so anxious. Paparazzi have followed Emma Stone in the past, even on outings with her former boyfriend, Andrew Garfield. The couple made good use of their fame – they wrote messages about the charities they donated to on the signs they used to cover their faces.

Sia is a singer and a songwriter who was full of determination as in not to be a celebrity that much of her time went into hiding her face when in the spotlight. The singer wrote an article for Billboard in 2013 titled 'My Anti Fame Manifesto.' She talks about being in the middle of renowned musicians while writing her songs resulted in her never wanting to be so famous.

Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley became popular with Pirates of the Caribbean in her late teens. About her fate, she said, "I found it pretty horrible. She is not an extrovert, so the spotlight and fame were even harder for her. Keira protects the young actresses she works with now, knowing that the world can be really harsh to them. Though it was traumatic, it shaped her career. Would she like to undo something? Not at all; her career is in a place where she enjoys it.

When Megan Fox's career was taking off, the actress dealt with sexualization and sexism from the media. That's why it is not at all surprising that she is not big on being a star. According to her, fame is like being bullied by those ten kids in your high school. The only difference is that it is on a global scale; instead of 10, there are millions of people.

Megan Fox feels at one point; she genuinely had a breakdown where she didn't want to do anything. She just wanted to hide herself, not wanted to pose for a photo, didn't feel like walking on a red carpet – all this because of fear and certainty that she'll be mocked, spat at, or somebody would look yet at her, people would savage her or stone her just because she was out.

In 2011, Shailene Woodley said that he is quite fine with saying F and C but saying famous and celebrity is beyond her control. She thinks these are such nasty words. The word 'fame' was hard for them because it brought a feeling of separation between her and everyone else. Woodley feels the word has so much stigma attached to it and many connotations for such a long time that she refuses to acknowledge it. Her trip to Indonesia was a turning point in her life when she realized people were turning on their cameras rather than the show they were watching.  Then she realized that no matter what, she must understand that is her life's reality.

Prince Harry

Just like many other members of the Royal family, Prince Harry has also used his fame for good causes like spreading awareness about charitable institutions. The Prince has complex feelings about what the press considers about his mother, Princess Diana's death. Being part of this Royal family – in this job, in this role, every time he sees a camera and hears a click, it takes him straight into the flashback.

George Clooney is one of the finest actors, but it is intentional that you don't hear about him so often. Rather than living in happening Los Angeles, the actor, his wife, and their children chose to live in some secluded properties in Italy and England. Clooney can prove to be extremely dangerous because you can begin to enjoy it. That's not the good part of what he does for a living. The good part is shooting for the movies. The fame is the unpleasant part.

Harrison Ford is known for some of his most iconic roles, like Indiana Jones and Han Solo, but he is not about fame. Everyone thinks if he is successful, he'll have the opportunities. Nobody understands that you have to pay the cost of fame, which is the total loss of your privacy. The cost is enormous. He never saw the fame coming, and he never enjoyed it also. You get your desired table at the restaurant. The doctors give you appointments at your time. But it's not worth it.

Ford just wants to act. He shares that success has given him options in his life, and he is really thankful for it.

Daniel Radcliff

Daniel  Radcliff got the most fame a young child can get when he starred in Harry Potter. This resulted in him questioning his emotions; he started drinking to cope with losing his anonymity and made sure his private life remained private. He has no Facebook or Twitter account, and because of this, things are a lot easier for him. Daniel says that if you go on Twitter and give updates about your every moment, then request for privacy, then forget that someone will take your request seriously. Just to stay out of the spotlight, he doesn't attend events or premiers in which he isn't involved. However, he loves acting and being on sets, and he feels he is really lucky.
