Angelina Jolie at the White House

Angelina Jolie attended President Joe Biden's signing of the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act on Wednesday at the White House, a cause that the actress is very enthusiastic about. She has been a vocal proponent of the law's restoration since it expired in 2018, especially since her divorce from Brad Pitt.

Jolie described her objective to NBC News

To NBC News, Jolie described her objective as "personal" and advocated for more funds to go toward technology that may help healthcare personnel and first responders better spot bruises in people of colour. "My children have different skin tones, and I've discovered over the years that so much of dermatology is based on white skin," she explained.

And she stated

"It's personal, and I won't say much, but if someone comes in and assaults us — you look at me, and you look at Ruth [Glenn, the CEO and President of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence]." You're more likely to see bruises on me, therefore, someone with a darker complexion will have a harder time getting justice."

The statements of Jolie were so personalized

That seems like Jolie is speaking about personal experiences within her own family - we're all aware of the alleged domestic violence incident that sparked her divorce from Pitt.

Jolie’s unforgettable incident in the private plane

Even though the actor was cleared of child abuse allegations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Child and Family Services in 2016, the incident on a private plane involving Jolie, Pitt, and their oldest son Maddox, now 20, has played a significant role in their child custody battle.

According to Jolie

"It is personal to everyone who cares about family and children," Jolie said, refusing to speak further about her own domestic abuse experiences.Jolie has every right to keep her personal life private, especially when four of her children are still under the age of 18. However, it raises even more questions about Pitt's character and makes everyone wonder what really happened behind the closed doors of this allegedly picture-perfect family.
